Chicago Skyway Workers Headed For Federal Arbitration On First Contract

http://www.laborradio.org/node/10631

By Doug Cunningham

Workers on Chicago’s Skyway toll-way are headed to federal arbitration in efforts to get their first contract. Teamsters Joint
Council 25 Executive Director Brian Rainville says since the Skyway was privatized, worker pay was cut. Skyway Concessions refuses to consider increasing wages beyond $10.60 an hour. Rainville says the company could easily afford to improve wages so privatization isn’t just about the bottom line.

: “It’s about a philosophy of basically taking as much as you can, regardless of the price, either to the individual workers themselves or to the communities that they live in.”
