Union (SEIU) Responds To Controversy Involving Boy Scout (Remember the Fox News story?)

One of Allentown's public employees' unions -- the Service Employees International Union -- is doing damage control after one of its leaders blasted a Boy Scout project. The SEIU's head Nick Balzano criticized a Boy Scout for clearing a walking path in a park in Allentown. He said he was trying to protect union jobs and he threatened to file a grievance against the city. That made national headlines and even prompted Congressman Charlie Dent to criticize Balzano.

In response, the SEIU sent a letter to Dent and Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski. In it, the union says " comments were completely unauthorized and they do not reflect the position or views of the union."

Balzano and six other union members have since resigned.
