A four-month UAW strike at General Motors ends with a new contract. The strikers were trying to make up for the lack of wage hikes during World War II - 1946

And this: March 13, 1946 - The United Auto Workers and General Motors signed a new contract after a four-month strike over wages. It was one of many efforts in which workers tried to make up for gains foregone during World War II.
