Rally Monday to support West St. Paul school paraprofessionals

MENDOTA HEIGHTS - Union members and supporters will rally Monday, June 21, to oppose cuts that threaten the livelihoods of paraprofessionals in the West St. Paul School District.
Participants will gather at 4:15 p.m. at Henry Sibley High School, 1895 Delaware Ave., Mendota Heights. The rally will run from 4:30 to 5 p.m.

“Independent School District 197 is attacking the stability of students and staff by balancing the District's budget on the backs of the lowest-paid workers by reducing their hours which will increase the employees' out-of-pocket insurance costs by 70% to 350%,” Service Employees International Union Local 284 said in announcing the rally.

Local 284 represents paraprofessionals, food service workers and bus drivers in the West St. Paul district.
