Nurse's union tries to keep hospital open (PA)
By Christine Haines, Herald-Standard
01/07/2006

REDSTONE TWP. - The union representing registered nurses at Tara Hospital at Brownsville is seeking injunctive relieve to keep the hospital from closing.

"We contacted the National Labor Relations Board, asking them to seek an injunction to prevent the closure of the hospital. Hopefully, we'll hear from them Monday," said Gil Gall, the UniServe representative for the Pennsylvania State Education Association-Health Care, which represents the Brownsville Nurses Association. "Legally, we're going to challenge their decision to close the hospital. In our opinion, their motivation is to rid themselves of the collective bargaining unit." <snip>

Gall said the BNA also is moving forward with the unfair labor charges filed against the hospital last month.

Lynn White, president of the Office and Professional Employees International Union at the hospital, said her union also is continuing with its unfair labor charges against the hospital. <snip>

1. It's become an all-out war on employees.
Employers are allowed to shed their union contracts, pension plans and employee benefit programs. They ignore negotiated agreements and build up the bottom line. It's happening all over - not just here. They know that with the thugs in charge this is their best chance to change the rules of the game and neuter unions.

Employees everywhere need to wake up to the fact that this is why we have unions. If business could be trusted to act in the interest of their employees, there would be no need. Workers all over this country should be clamoring to join unions and honor their picket lines.

This union needs to bury this guy in injunctions, grievances and lawsuits. He needs a reason to negotiate. He doesn't see one yet. I wonder if they'd be willing to open their books. I bet not.

Bastards...
