REDSTONE TWP. - The union representing registered nurses at Tara Hospital at Brownsville is seeking injunctive relieve to keep the hospital from closing.
"We contacted the National Labor Relations Board, asking them to seek an injunction to prevent the closure of the hospital. Hopefully, we'll hear from them Monday," said Gil Gall, the UniServe representative for the Pennsylvania State Education Association-Health Care, which represents the Brownsville Nurses Association. "Legally, we're going to challenge their decision to close the hospital. In our opinion, their motivation is to rid themselves of the collective bargaining unit." <snip>
Gall said the BNA also is moving forward with the unfair labor charges filed against the hospital last month.
Lynn White, president of the Office and Professional Employees International Union at the hospital, said her union also is continuing with its unfair labor charges against the hospital. <snip>
