Note that during this exchange, Beinart takes the position that Global Warming is more threatening than a terrorist attack (and that all liberals think so) - then takes exactly the opposite position seconds later.

First time I've really seen Maddow angry.

Edit for clarity

1. As Always -- Go Rachel!
She's absolutely right. We can't concede the nation security argument to the Republicans without facing the genuine prospect of losing because of it.

2. I'm glad I watched Rachel. I'm not glad I watched this propagandist for
the Council on Foreign Relations and Abrams was abysmal -snuck a snipe at Bill-Monica history.

5. The "big deal" is that we as Democrats want to BEAT the Republicans and this goes a far way to HELP
McBUSH

If Hillary is more "ready" for that phone call than Obama only because of her time in Washington and NOT because of her personal and professional choices and integrity then the logic holds that McBush is more "ready" than Hillary.

And that logic is all that comes through this commercial. It is a short sighted campaign tactic that will harm the open election and is born from the short sighted election plan that was in place for Hillary by her and her people from the beginning.

if she does not want to start being known as MsBush she needs to start to act like the DEMOCRAT she is and has been elected to be.

You nailed it.

And Maddow nails it here(less than 1 minute long): http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81/kos102/2007/05 Other/Obama/?action=view¤t=maddow.flv

7. To be fair to the straw men...
Global warming has killed more people than al-Qaida...

Plenty of events at least partially a result of Global Warming: hurricane activity, heat waves, with a good number of flash floods to look forward to in the coming years. Though a serious problem, I don't think it's threatening. "Oh, I'm going to make your world several degrees hotter and cause your weather patterns to change, until you either fix the problem or die- and you probably can't fix the problem!"

9. Factually, you are correct. But....
...since the majority of 'Muricans are the Puppet People, they don't think past tonight's sound bites from the TeeVee machine or any further into the future than next week (if THAT far). :(

Climate change is a bigger threat, but people don't perceive it as such yet.

Burning buildings collapsing into the street keeps viewers transfixed in front of the Idiot Box for hours to be marketed to; rising ocean levels, melting ice caps and ocean currents ceasing aren't "sexy" enough to even be noticed, and as a result, Mr. and Mrs. Consumer tune out and switch over to American Idol or Project Runway.

Sadly, it all comes down to marketing. :puke:

8. How about Hillary shows her differences from mcbush??
I think Hillary is losing it. She had my respect, and she had me feeling like either she or Obama would be far superior to the continuation of this Nazi regime we have today. I'm not so sure anymore.

She needs to get her head out of her ass and start talking about what SHE can do for America, and how she is a better change than the almighty threat of four more years of mcbush. This country is damned if he wins in '08.

She is placing herself in the gutter with these stupid ass claims. I really believe she has lost her focus and is losing her credibility.
