This isn't too far from how dirty the campaign of 1800 was!

2. Jefferson was the first US politician
The knife he rammed into Adams' back was astoundingly cold.

5. Yup him and Hamilton
The issues keep changing in each era but, from my perspective, the fundamental difference between the two parties (no savior has arrived to unite both parties from the 1790's to the present. The Federalists destroyed themselves. They didn't merge.) has always been a desire for helping the common man, the fundamental Democratic belief going back to Jefferson and Jackson, or serving the interests of the rich, starting with Hamilton and the Federalists.

6. Ain't it the truth
Anyone who thinks partisan politics is a thing of the modern era, should read up on that period of time.
It would also take Jefferson down a notch in the eyes of the more romantically-inclined historians.

7. It is a shame one candidate is relying on ignorance of history to sell snake oil
:(

Jefferson played hardball but in his defense so did the other side. When our party had fighters at the helm, whether it was Jefferson, Jackson, FDR, JFK, or Bill Clinton we won. When we nominated "nice guys" like Dukakis, Mondale, and Kerry we lost...

8. I'm sorry, Adams had enough information to destroy Jefferson, out of friendship he didn't use it
My point is, lots of crap happened back then too ... we're all dealing with human beings.

9. I was referring more to Hamilton, the true leader of the Federalists
Especially during the formative years of both parties under President Washington.

11. No need.
I didn't find it funny. I commented on it. End of story. 'Nuff said.
