Hi, I知 Al Franken. I'm running for the United States Senate here in Minnesota.

I'd like to talk to you about why I'm running.

I知 not a typical politician. I致e spent my career as a comedian. Minnesotans have a right to be skeptical about whether I知 ready for this challenge, and to wonder how seriously I would take the responsibility that I知 asking you to give me.

I want you to know: nothing means more to me than making government work better for the working families of this state, and over the next twenty months I look forward to proving to you that I take these issues seriously.

He strikes all the right chords - he's strong, but sensitive to the needs of people who government is currently failing.

He's empathetic and shows that he LISTENS to the people of his state.

Honestly, integrity, intelligence, understanding, compassion.

For a political novice, he's really off to a fantastic start. I think he'll make a wonderful Senator and we need more candidates like him - who want to represent the people not out of a quest for power and prestige, but for a simply desire to make government work for the people.
