"I'll tell you, I don't know if the Republican Party really is looking forward to having to follow this show, because as a political show, this is gonna be hard to top, not just next week, but even four or eight years from now."

2. The GOP will postpone their convention...
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 11:34 PM by Pilotguy
They will use Gustav as an excuse to delay their convention but we'll all know the real reason they don't want to have their freak show next week. There is an article in the Washington Post about this possibility but I'm to tired to look for the link.

Ok-Here's the link:

3. I wish they would. It would further underscore their incompetence
But all the arrangements have been finalized. It would be a HUGE loss of face for them to postpone. The ball would be squarely in Obama's court. I can only dream of such good fortune coming our way.

4. they can't postpone.....there are WAY too many logistics that won't wait
rooms can't be simply switched, flight reservations, schedules, coverage...... short of 9/11 ....this moves forward whether they like it or not

7. "WAY too many logistics that won't wait"
Well, half the GOP politicians are too scared to attend the convention anyway. So there should be plenty of rooms available. ;-)

12. Yep, Schwarzenneger is saying he won't go if CA doesn't pass a budget by then;
sounds like an excuse to me. He even came out and criticized CA GOP leaders for "hiding" beause they won't say how they'll get a budget approved and that it's because they know nobody would support their plan.

oh the times they are a changin'..... :-)

8. That'd be animal abuse!
No living creature should be forced to endure the GOP convention.

16. Probably a fake dog and pretend pony would be just as good
They wouldn't know real from fake if it bit them on the ass.

10. excuse
I see where this is going. They've finally found an excuse to bump GWB from the convention: cancel Monday, the day he was scheduled to speak.

11. Monday, Gustav slams into New Orleans?
On Monday evening, Hurrican Gustav may slam into New Orleans.

Here's hoping the loss of life is minimal or zero and that the greatest damage is done to the RNC from ripples spreading out 2,000 miles to St. Paul, Minn.

13. he should devote the entire speech to his POW days
describe everything in detail. That'll psyche up the party.
