1. That was a breath of fresh air!
I think that song means more now than it did in the 70's. I wanted peace when I was a student, but it took me this long to know what it means to truly long for peace. Thanks.

2. Thanks for posting this, Bridgit!
Every time I see something like this or hear words of wisdom about the need to eradicate poverty FOR ALL PEOPLE, I am sad that our country is so oriented towards ourselves and our own selfish needs. I hope someday that we will come to realize that peace is only possible when we feel the suffering of others as deeply as our own and that we all begin to address the needs of the human family across the globe. Thanks again for sharing this.

3. A Prophet Is Heard!
...as a devout Christian I have long known that Cat Stevens (Yusuf) was a prophet. I have no concern he is not of my faith because real Truths are universal and they never go out of style. I knew it the first time I heard his music and his lyrics in the early 70's and I was young. What I mean is that the universal Truths he sings about are not old but new, not new, but old.

I understood why he withdrew because his fame must have been a burden and not at all an easy thing to live, but I was sad when he said he would never sing again in the 1980s because I felt that he had so much to tell new audiences when at that time my heart told me we were entering into dark times with his Prime Minister Thatcher and ours with Reagan.

Now I am so glad he is back doing Allah's (God) work again and singing what he and many of us know in our hearts is true!

4. Teaser and the Firecat
My brother was a big fan and I learned to appreciate Cat Stevens. In fact, he would read me the book "teaser and the firecat" until I was able to read it myself... or maybe I read it myself, I don't remember!?

I've been looking for the book to read to my son ... well, at this point I think he may be able to read it himself.

5. Thanks for posting!!! I had no idea the Cat was back and singing to boot!
Last I heard he had given it up completely and his own children were supposedly forbidden from listening to his or any popular music. Is there any more info about his comeback? Did he grant anyone an interview to announce or discuss it?

6. Yusuf Islam
I don't know the whole story but
he released an album last year.
I recall hearing something about
him saying that it wasn't wrong
to sing if he sang about something
that meant meaningful and true
to his heart.

I'm so glad his voice of peace
and love is back

salaam

10. Yusuf Islam was denied entry
To the US.......he is on a terrorist watch list.

Which merely proves that the whole watch list thing is a bloody sham.

12. And a shame too, it would be nice to see him live
I wasn't alive before when he was singing and it would be nice to get a second chance.
