Back in the day, really, when people would talk about our military in a poor way, somebody would shoot ‘em. And there’d be nothing said about that, because they knew it was wrong. You don’t talk about our troops. You support our troops. Especially when our congressmen and senators sit there and say bad things in an ongoing conflict.

7. Some people fight to be on top.
Joe fights to be on the bottom. I find it hard to believe how anyone could admire this guy.

8. Narcissistic personality disorder or what?
Narcissistic personality disorder
From Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the diagnostic classification system used in the United States, as "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy." <1>

The narcissist is described as turning inward for gratification rather than depending on others and as being excessively preoccupied with issues of personal adequacy, power and prestige.<2> Narcissistic personality disorder is closely linked to self-centeredness.

DSM criteria

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement
6. is interpersonally exploitative
7. lacks empathy
8. is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her

15. You know, I almost want to say that attributing a clinical analysis to this clown
is almost excessively grandiose in explanation.

The truth is he may just be an big fucking everyday buffoon.

19. I think it's much simpler than that . . .
He's a dimwit, but he recognizes that this weird misalignment of the planets is his chance to jump from obscurity to celebrity, and he's taking it. Biting the heads off chickens doesn't work anymore (except maybe for Anne Coulter), so pretending to be populist pundit is the next best thing. It wouldn't work except that the Republican party is so totally bankrupt of both integrity and ideas that this ignorant putz can weakly imitate having something meaningful to say -- and they're so desperate they believe it.

It comes at a great cost though. Any reasonable person can see what a pathetic noentity this guy is and that for the Republicans to be touting him this way is further confirmation of their hypocrisy and uselessness.

Go Joe!

11. I think I would prefer
to know what the guy that put in our new toilet thinks than Joe. He is a licensed plumber and really does run his own business. He is probably too busy to figure out who he wants shot.

"Back in the day, really, when people would talk about our military in a poor way, somebody would shoot ‘em. And there’d be nothing said about that, because they knew it was wrong."

Exactly when was this dystopian period of US history anyway?

If nothing else, this ersatz Joe should lay to rest forever the conceit that the "average Joe" is wiser than the typical elected official (there are, of course, exceptionally unwise officials). At least among anyone with a working brain...
