When you burn yourself on the oven, you don't think "gee, maybe it won't burn me the second time". The private sector has let us down and, though I am not fond of huge government control, I do think it is the only option that is on the table and if we want to move forward we must go through trial and error.

What about choice? I tell you a little bit about choice. Choice is not when your HMO dictates what doctor's you will see. Choice is not when your hmo determines what Xray machine you will use. Choice is not when your hmo forces you to drive hundreds of miles out of town to see a doctor in your network. Choice is not when you HMO determines what medications you cannot take. Choice is not when your hmo determines what is preventative and what is not. Choice is not when an hmo covers Viagra, but it won't cover birth control pills. You don't have a choice when your HMO charges $1000.00 deductible, you just don't get the care because you can't afford it. Am I getting anywhere here?
