It always amazes me how people with their fingers the most deeply into the socialist pie in this country are always the most opposed to socialism.

3. The stupid, it HURTS!

Honestly, I can't imagine how people with such a wealth of right wing nonsense on all media can imagine to be so inarticulate when they're mouthing what they've heard. Some of it is in code, of course, and they talk a verbal shorthand to each other that's truly amazing if you've ever heard them do it. However, the ideas are so totally unformed when they are speaking that it's frightening.

This is what happens when right wing dumbfuckery is never answered by an opposing view. People outside the cities and with little access to an opposing viewpoint dutifully fall right into line. This is why unanswered hate is so dangerous. Every single national madness starting with WWII started with right wing hate in the media that largely went unquestioned.

Until media consolidation and the dearth of an opposing viewpoint are challenged by antitrust laws and the re institution of the Fairness Doctrine, we don't have a chance. Right wing stupidity will prevail while people aren't given a choice.

5. Watch the whole movie - it's on YouTube

I watched it a few months ago and was just awed by some of the sentiments.

I especially liked the two young kids (shown in this clip) saying they're going to move to Canada (hello, socialized medicine) and Spain (hello, one of Europe's most pro-choice and now equal rights for gays countries). I don't think they would like either of those countries. The kid talking about Spain probably doesn't know anything about it past Francisco and so is all for it.

In the full movie, they feature some rednecks at a Nascar rally, and one of the big ol' bubbas starts blubbering over how if Obama wins, there will be nothing for the white men anymore.
