The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday that a small community has been living in the area for many years.

3. I wonder if they were rich or poor?
'The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread'. Anatole France

I also wonder just how many abandoned properties, commercial and residential could be found in a one-mile radius of that site.

5. In what other country do they have perfectly liveable homes sitting empty - miles of them..
...all across the country - while people live under bridges and on streets - homeless and with no health care?

Something v.wrong with that picture.

7. This has gotten insane..and it is getting worse by the day...
These people need a place to go...every human being deserves a roof over their heads.
When stores sit empty and blocks of empty houses stare out at us and our fellow human beings are living in the streets...its just crazy.
Since we bailed out the banks and morgage companies that owned those houses...dont those houses now belong to the American Taxpayers that are paying for them?
Why cant we just turn them all into low income housing? They are ours arent they?

"Swept under the rug," the woman said. Ironic, as our homeless neighbors are already living underground. • "Babies in hidden catacombs ..." What Millennium are we living in!?

11. good job, LA
you all got squealy when they are sleeping on Santa Monica beach, so you kicked then out. You got all squealy when folks of good will made peanut butter sandwiches to pass out to them, so you drew up an ordinance basically saying: "Ignore our country's so-called xtian values--let 'em starve because we want them dead and out of our sight." You all got squealy when they slept in front door wells of unused buildings, so you kicked them out. They went and did what you all wanted them to do: go away so you don't have to see them, and now that they did, you're sending in the cops to kick them out of their hiding place, too. What's next? Line them up and shoot them down into a mass grave? Because really, that's all that's left to you to "get rid of them so you don't have to see them".

16. That woman in the video--- she does not look like the stereotypical homeless person on the street.
There, but for the grace of god, would go a lot of people just like her.

How sad, especially for the children to have to live there.
