5. We really are screwed...
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 09:15 AM by CoffeeCat
Maher is so spot on.

Where are the progressive politicians, policies and ideas?

There are NONE. NONE!

However, there are plenty of corporate politicians, policies and ideas. The banks, the insurance
companies, the credit card companies and the pharmaceutical companies get exactly what they want, and
'We The People' get screwed--so these companies can steal our money.

It's a frickin sham.

And none of it has stopped since Obama was elected. It's continued.

We Dems have the House, Senate and the Presidency. If we don't get this mess mopped up now---then how in the world
can anyone be in denial about how corrupt our Dems are? Is there any doubt now--that the Republicans and Democrats
are all united and serving the corporations and totally screwing us???

11. Aren't all politicians in Washington there ...
because they're become indebted to the powers that be? Those powers pay them very well if they play by their rules or ruin them if they don't. Once I was told this is the way Washington works, with all elected officials from both sides of the aisle, I never scratched my head anymore trying to figure out why the Dems don't seem to have a spine. That appearance is a lot better for them than having the appearance of a deliberate sell-out. They all answer to the people that put them in office, and we all know it's not the people. That's just an illusion.

However, you asked about progressive politicians and where are they. There is one who is always speaking out and constantly being belittled for it. Dennis Kucinich. He's always a breath of fresh air. And the powers that be will always keep him down as a result. Always wished more people stood behind him to show the powers that be how the people want this country run.

12. HR676 (Medicare for ALL) has 93 Co-Sponsors in The House.
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 11:26 AM by bvar22
There are still some Democrats who haven't sold you out.
Only the CorpoMedia approved "Democrats" are allowed Face Time on TV, so you wouldn't know about the Dems who are still working for YOU.

That being said, Maher is SPOT ON!
Election 2008 was a crushing defeat for The Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party.

"I ain't going to work on Maggie's Farm no more !"---Bobby Dylan

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

13. I've been a Dem for almost 30 years
and I'm more depressed and cynical now than I was when the Rs were in power. I hated Ralph Nader and called him insane when he said there was little difference between the two parties. Now, I'm starting to wonder if Nader could be right.

14. Great new rules
Bill Maher often has great insights and this is why I watch him.

It seems many DUers love trashing him however if he makes a point or two that they don't totally agree with or has a right-winger on as a guest...Personally I welcome the debates.

20. The party has issues it's 30 years of mostly right wingers attending voting precintcts...
Edited on Sun Jun-21-09 05:57 AM by GivePeaceAchance
It'll take another 30 years to get back on track. Folks have to be in this for the long haul considering how off track things got we've amazing things. The more voters kept turning up to vote GOP the more our party had to follow the trend. I can see how folks gave up afte the kennedy brothers met their tragic demise but it's no time for giving up now. The main obstruction is still congress not President Obama he's making the most of the hand he's dealt, the rest is how much we push.

21. It's sad that these cold, hard truths are only spoken by a comedian...
It's sad only people like Bill Maher and Jon Stewart *really* let the people know what's going on, while the 'journalists' keep silent.
