3. Sonic Cannons
Edited on Sat Sep-26-09 08:16 AM by 90-percent

I saw this covered on Rachel last night. Can these things easily cause permanent hearing loss?

Does that mean when you lawfully and peacefully assemble you can be permanently handicapped by your own government?

Even Rachel seemed un-alarmed by this. I guess we all feel hearing is one of our most expendable senses? Hearing loss is permanent damage folks. It doesn't ever get better or heal itself back to former capacity. What you loose is FOR LIFE!

When do you think the government will come out with a microwave device that boils eyeballs and uses it on lawfully assembled citizens? Do you think this would cause any concern to the citizenry?

I mean, WHAT THE FUCK!!!!

11. They also have their eye on these skin burning lasers that can blind you.

And seriously harm you unless you get the hell out of its way. They will melt the contact lenses to your cornea.

Brave new world.

13. I suffer from severe hearing impairment. It is no minor handicap. It
Edited on Sat Sep-26-09 01:01 PM by tblue37
prevents me from doing many, many things I used to do and wish I could still do, and it creates all sorts of difficulties for me in conversations and at work (I teach college English). I have to watch movies on DVD, so I can use the closed captioning function to follow the dialogue. My hearing impairment also means I can't go to the movies, lectures, live plays, town hall meetings, political events, etc.

Even with my hearing aids turned up full blast, I can't follow most conversations, especially when more than one other person is speaking around me, so I stay home alone during holidays rather than going to relatives' homes, since spending several hours among people whose conversations I can't understand is a terrible bore.

I need stronger, more advanced hearing aids, but I can't afford to spend $3500-$4000 for them right now, and of course hearing aids are not covered, not even in part, by insurance.

Don't let anyone tell you that hearing loss is a minor handicap. Even a partial hearing loss, one less severe than mine even, can severely curtail one's activities and opportunities. I am not completely deaf, but I am still significantly handicapped in my daily life by my hearing impairment.

Oh--and it makes me go crazy when pople on DU post videos with no summary, so I can't tell what is going on in them! Way to leave us handicapped pople out of the conversation!

8. Another hit against the Constitution.
Edited on Sat Sep-26-09 09:12 AM by wroberts189

Who is going to protest when you risk being gassed ,electrocuted, and subject to advanced sonic weaponry?

Pretty soon they will be rolling out those skin burning lasers.

I wonder how long before we are all too afraid to protest.

Freedom of assembly, sometimes used interchangeably with the freedom of patos, is the individual right to come together and collectively express, promote, pursue and defend common interests.<1> The right to freedom of association is recognized as a human right, a political freedom and a civil liberty.

Freedom of assembly and freedom of association may be used to distinguish between the freedom to assemble in public places and the freedom of joining an association. Freedom of assembly is often used in the context of the right to protest, while freedom of association is used in the context of labor rights and the right to collective bargaining, for example by joining a trade union. Freedom of assembly as guaranteed in the Canadian Constitution and the Constitution of the United States are interpreted to mean both the freedom to assemble and the freedom to join an association.<2>

14. Whatever tech they roll out...
Edited on Sat Sep-26-09 01:20 PM by RoccoR5955
...there are hackers like me who are figuring out ways to defeat it. I am working on this one as well. I think I have a solution, but need to get within the proximity of one of these things to test it, and get the frequency of the tone that they are putting out. Once I have that, it should be relatively simple to come up with a frequency that will counter this. Just put it on your ipod, and you're good. They do it with noise canceling headphones, they can do it with this.
