My second grader & kindergartener say the Pledge of Allegiance every day. In fact, the first week of school, my little one was quite proud she could recite it.

Granted, the links are Wikipedia, but the sources at the bottom are accurate:

Amazing that these two were married. I had no idea she was such a nutter.

24. This is how shit get's started
Doubtless, there are now millions of ignorant foxtards who honestly believe that kids are no longer allowed to say the Pledge of Allegiance in school.

It won't take long for this tiny drop of misinformation to morph into the water-cooler axiom: "Obama has outlawed the Pledge of Allegiance!"

Next, there will be a mention on one of Fox's 'pretty girls talking shit' shows to the effect of: "The White House has sent a memo to every school in America instructing the teachers to teach the children to sing 'The Internationale' with their left fist raised in salute to a framed picture of Karl Marx."

26. This countries chief product produced is becoming Ignorance and Hatred.
I'm stunned at how many take whatever they hear on Fox News as absolute truth. We have today a culture of ignorance and hatred. I have no idea where America is headed for the 21st century anymore. This country has become its own worst enemy with its fertile ground for ignorance and hatred. While the US is mired in ignorance and hatred, the rest of the world is going to walk right past us.

25. I iwsh they had to retract every statement they make
that's proven false. But that's the difficulty of the "newsotainment" business. You're not held to any sort of standard but people who don't know any better buy it as if it's truth.

29. Those that take to the airwaves spewing lies and distortions should not be tolerated.
With public airwaves should come some level of responsibility for truth. The spewing of distortions and lies by the media should be grounds for FCC license revocation.

30. "OMG! OMG!" "You're not allowed to do, like, anything in school." Especially learning, in her
case. But then she is a FOX "news" personality, so the, eh, 'standards' are lower. If you did a vox populi with random FOX folks and asked them to recite the Pledge of Allegiance I wonder how many could...

36. At least Fox is keeping us all infromed.
When I was in elementary school and junior high, we said the Pledge of Allegiance daily.
When I was in high school, we said the Pledge every monday morning, right before the announcements were read over the intercom.
Clearly she has no clue.

I think I caught her say "in it's usual form" or something like that. Maybe there are schools out there that have taken out the "under God" part. If they have, good for them, but it's still the Pledge of Allegiance. I wasn't a fan of the "under God" part when I was in school, so I just omitted that part myself. Big whoop! Not once in all my years of public school did anyone ever call me on it, not once.

As far as her comment about praying in school... you can pray any time and anywhere you want. Classmates of mine would routinely pray before tests, or before they ate their lunch, or before sporting events or concerts or other performances. What public schools CAN'T do is have organized prayers led by anyone.

44. ah, the truth will always out...
of course you obviously acted in the moment,
a mere inexperienced childish outburst,

because if you had really thought about what you
were doing you would have courteously said...

"You can't fucking make me say the fucking pledge, sir!"

which would have gotten you the exact same detention.
but you could claim you were at all times respectful
to the teacher.

so it would make you look like the martyr to your first amendment principles,
while the admin looks like an even bigger jackbooted jerk for imposing detention ;)

there is an art to civil disobedience, my friend.
we live and learn.

peace.

When is the US going to do away with that creepy habit? I mean, the only other place that does these pledges in schools is North-Korea.
