The title of this thread comes with one of these :sarcasm:

Some observations I http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x8723428#8723631">posted in GD Presidential...

Yet again Faux news are blatantly distorting their viewers' perceptions of reality. This time by stacking a huge pile of A4 paper on a mirror like desk and calling it the House Health Care Bill.

This is what 2,000 pages look like - the package on the right shows the height of A4 paper in comparison:

And this is the gargantuan pile that a Faux news cast member http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1_cXa9xXRs">used as a prop. I'm not too sure how much bigger it is than the real thing but I've generously guestimated it at double:

Here's a close up where you can see that it's a pack of 500 sheets that's just been opened:

Below is Faux's pile next to what Boehner stood in front of prior to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1_cXa9xXRs">her interview with him. At the base, there's about 5 or 6 inches not in view http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-q7Plh5VjY">in the video - but the version next to it shows some http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/oct/30/behind-the-house-democrats-1990-page-health-care-b/">Washington Times optical trickery:

...

The fact that Boehner and Faux both used an oversized pile of paper shows that they're reading from the same propaganda script too, but my brain is a bit frazzled after playing around with these pictures to get into that.

http://blog.heritage.org/2009/10/29/what-to-look-for-in-the-latest-version-of-the-house-health-care-bill/">The Heritage Foundation have had a go at misrepresenting the actual size of the Health Care Bill too:

http://health.burgess.house.gov/UploadedFiles/House_HCR_bill.pdf">The bill itself does consist of 1990 pages but each page has 20 to 26 lines and each line has between 5 to 10 words. I think they would have been better off formatting the bill differently so that it consists of less pages and is easier to read.

1. Gee, then I guess they better hit the books and start reading
Instead of holding press conferences and primping themselves on Sunday talk shows.

3. CNN is no better and may actually be worse
Because they seem less insanely skewed toward the Right.

This morning, two dim-witted newsreaders were discussing the 2,000 page bill, and they gave it a total of about three minutes. And of those three minutes, about 2:45 were spent discussing two insultingly stupid cartoons that CNN has crafted to illustrate these complex issues.

The first cartoon was a fellow named "Heart Attack Harry," who's having trouble getting coverage.

The second cartoon was "Youthful Yolanda," who--at age 25--is a much better risk for insurers to cover. But Yolanda faces the difficulty of having too many choices while trying to select an insurance provider. In short, she can't decide where to spend her money.

That was the whole discussion. Instead of addressing any real problems with access to healthcare in the US, these two idiots chuckled at each other and laughed at the cartoons. The male newsreader even commented on Yolanda's "gun show," since the cartoon had her flexing her biceps.

7. The Dems should have kept it simple and created
Medicare part E for Everyone.

They didn't create 1,900 pages of nonsense when Wall Street wanted our money, now did they?
Remember, Paulsen walked in with only a page and half of details about the bailout, and Congress couldn't fork over our money fast enough to the banksters.

And the government can't exactly have us being educated on what's really going on now can they?

10. it's the type of paper!!!!
I was driving through Birmingham and happened to turn the dial to the Lee Davis Show--a conservative talk radio show. Callers were calling in voicing their concerns over the usual stuff--socialism, the dems taking away their guns, pushing gay lifestyles on them, etc. etc. etc. At least one person phoned in commenting about the page length like this was "just another example of why health care reform shouldn't pass". War and Peace was long but, it's required reading in many high schools. The Bible is required reading for Republicans...last I checked, it was pretty lengthy as well but, you don't hear them complaining about that. Maybe Dems should just scratch it on some papyrus, stick it in a clay jar and say it was divinely inspired....

15. I just finished reading a 700+ page book for pleasure. So what's their problem? Aren't they
getting paid to read this? Isn't it part of their job requirement, or is that someone else's job. I would have been fired if I acted like that about something I didn't want to do on my job. Hey there's an idea!

19. Where were they when Homeland Security came out?
I had a Facebook "friend" go off on the number of pages and the price per page. I posted back about $400/gallon gas in Afghanistan. Boner and friends don't care about the cost. They only want all our taxes to go to destructive purposes.

20. When the media can use illiteracy as an excuse to why this bill is wrong, they
miss the point. This bill will most likely contain the exchange which if I remember correctly will keep insurance co. in the mix. It most likely will not contain a single payer option, and it will most likely continue many hurdles to being approved for treatment via panels of attorneys, and a doctor thrown into the mix. This bill will most likely be profitable for the insurance co., and most likely the american consumer will find it to be as flawed as that medicare doughnut hole.... This bill should indicate that consumers have a right to affordable dependable medical care. That is what the fuss should be about. Now that should be able to fit neatly onto one page.

25. Boehner's pile is growing!!
It just played a cameo on CNN's State of the Union just now.

It's grown from this oversized heap of A4 to this new monster pile of A3

CNN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFlN7D4VJ2A">went to a lot of trouble to show this gargantuan pile at several different angles, here's a few more...

This angle makes it look nearly as big as him!
