Prepare to vomit.

I didn't realize Ray Stevens was a Hannitized, Beck-loving Dittohead.

:puke:

I'm not a fan of this so-called healthcare reform but this is just sickening.

1. If you watch some of his other videos or been to one of his shows
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 07:34 AM by cornermouse
its fairly obvious for years that, politically speaking, he's a republican. Did he go well overboard with this one? Oh yeah. That said, he's a old man who is trying to survive cancer and who has no actual connection with political decisions. There's no real future in trying to attack him unless you just have a need to attack someone, anyone... If you really need to punish him I suggest you don't watch his video since, according to his website, they are apparently tracking the number of people who watch it.

2. Oh my, far from the old "Mr Businessman" Ray. Although I'm not sure that one line
was exactly an endorsement of the "Hannitzed". It actually could be taken as a warning to the left...don't know enough about Ray's actual politics to make the call, but I see the Palin types are loving it!

3. Blah
It's sad to see Stevens's music take such an unfortunate direction, because I'm actually a big fan of much of his past work. I've known for a while, from an interview years back, that he was a Republican, but didn't know he was a right-wing nut. Songs like "Mr. Businessman" and "Would Jesus Wear a Rolex?" are hardly compatible with a typical right-wing view.

(I basically left a similar comment on youtube under my username, "octollie," FWIW.)

5. I also have a fondness for AMERICA, COMMUNICATE WITH ME
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 10:11 AM by derby378
It sounds very much like what many DUers today feel about this whole health insurance swindle:

I'm tired of all your protests
They're getting out of hand
And all you politicians
You're too vague to understand
And somewhere in the middle of
Two extremes without a plan
I'm just the average man
Just trying to do the best I can

And I've had it with the preacher
I don't walk to him no more
Everybody's spreading doubts with shouts
Of politics and war
And from where I stand
It don't make sense to be against or for
Seams like now-a-days
There is no call to reason anymore

But the answers aren't all yes or no
To or fro, stop or go
Everything's not left or right
Black or white, day or night

America, my country 'tis of thee
America, communicate with me

Three small bullets took the leaders
That could help us all unite
And the people split asunder
In their search for truth and right
And the rabble-rousers
Preached distorted views from left and right
And the rockets red glare
Searches for the dawn's early light

But despite your flaming headlines
I'll still keep my faith in you
And you're still the same great country
That I pledge allegiance to
Call me a sentimental patriot
Well I guess that could be true
Well I can't help but think
A lot of people feel the way I do

'Cause the answers aren't all yes or no
To or fro, stop or go
And everything's not left or right
Black or white, day or night

America, my country 'tis of thee
America, communicate with me
