Rep. Hoekstra Dodges Question About His Fundraising "Off the Attempted Murder of 300 People"

visit: http://firedoglake.com

A Republican candidate for governor of Michigan, Hoekstra took flack from one of his GOP primary opponents on Tuesday, who accused him of politicizing the attempted terrorist bombing on Christmas of a flight en route to Detroit from Amsterdam.

Hoekstra, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, has been one of the foremost GOP lawmakers out in the media responding to the attempted attack, which the lawmaker cited in a fundraising email.

"It is extremely disappointing that the congressman would us a potentially tragic incident to raise money for his political campaign," a spokesman for Snyder told the Grand Rapids News. "In these troubling times, words can't describe how sad it is to see an attempt to politically capitalize on a failed terrorist attack just three days after it happened."

2. What is more cowardly, ...
... a politician refusing to answer a question or a mediaman accepting a non-answer to his question. These interviews are a joke. More of the Washington-MSM love fest.

6. I can answer that.... The MediaMan
The politician should be ashamed and it is no shock that he is evading the question. The Media, on the other hand, has a job to do. If they fail to do their job, then scumbags like this not only get a way with it, but have an opportunity to tell us how great they are at national security. Why wouldn't they do it again if they know that they will not be held accountable. Think about it, imagine if you could accomplish the following in a days work:

a) Make money off of the deaths of 300 americans, while you are part of a party that contributed to the event happening through their obstructionism. Granted, americans didn't die, but he would do it if they did.

b) Tell the country on National TV about how you are so supportive of national security instead of being held accountable.

Seems like a winner for anybody in Hoekstra's shoes.

4. Hoekstra dodges?
As leading minority party member on the intelligence committee, I believe that it was Mr. Hoekstra who revealed that our intelligence services were tapping the phone line of the militant Muslim cleric that the military officer had called before he started killing American soldiers last month or so. He wanted to sound off on the "terrorist incident" so he revealed information that should have been classified. Would he sacrifice the safety of our country to advance his own election goals? Or as the interviewer asked,'would he blatantly use a terrorist incident for fund-raising?' Darn straight! What ever happened to the concept of loyal opposition? The repubs are much more interested in putting Obama down than they are in the success of our beloved country. Sure sounds like treason to me.

7. no surprise to me
Members of the republic party have displayed over, and over, that they find it a joy to exploit the blood and deaths of Americans for their personal gain. They've always been like that.
They were responsible for 9/11 yet, they tried to use those deaths to beat the Democrats over their heads with for years.
Republicans are like predators, the more blood that is churned up, the more excited they become. They just can't help themselves.

8. U.S. Airstrikes in Yemen
Hoekstra again, totally ingenuous and purposely ignorant of
facts . .

President Obama was lobbing cruise missiles at Yemen weeks
before the attempted Xmas attack and 'some people say' the
underwear bomber was retaliating against the attacks in Yemen.

Hoekstra saw no need to mention the airstrikes 'because ONLY
HOEKSTRA will keep Michigan safe!
