Great description of how Faux news operates (which we all know already but it's good to see it being said on national TV) starting at 5:31:

"...at a time of growing economic anxiety and real suffering out there, Fox is appealing to the worst in people, to their fears and to their pain. And in a sense profiting from what is happening in America... Appealing to fear is something he (Ailes) is very good at, he is the man who brought us the Willie Horton ad... Appealing to our lizard brains, you know, which is when our rational mind kind of goes to sleep and we just absorb all those paranoid statements Glenn Beck is famous for."

Keith also mentions as part of the intro. that Sarah Plain has been laundering her PAC's money by using more then $63,000 of donations to buy her own book.

Glenn Beck Goes After Me, But Forgets His Show Is on Video and Lies About Things He "Never, Never" Said

Arianna Huffington
Posted: February 1, 2010 07:08 PM

Following up on http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/31/roger-ailes-on-this-week_n_443555.html">my back and forth with Roger Ailes yesterday on ABC's This Week, Glenn Beck went on his radio show today and attacked what I'd said about him -- and, in the process, ended up spewing a lot more misinformation.

Beck's key point of contention was over my assertion that he had warned people that they were in danger of being "slaughtered" by the Obama administration and its friends.

Ailes had insisted that Beck had been "talking about Hitler and Stalin slaughtering people, so I think he was probably accurate." Beck and his on-air partners, executive producer and head writer "Stu" Burguiere and contributing editor Pat Gray, tried to stick with that story. (Press the play button at the link below to listen).

BECK: I don't even know if I've ever used the word "slaughtered." And if I used the word "slaughtered," if it wasn't in a context of Mao, Stalin, or Hitler, it was in the idea that the truth is being slaughtered by this administration... not saying that this administration is going to slaughter anyone.

GRAY: Never, never.

Unfortunately for Ailes, Beck, and Gray -- but fortunately for fans of facts, reality, and the truth -- we live in the era of DVRs, YouTube, and embeddable video. And what Beck actually said is recorded for posterity.

1. It's just her accent.
What she really said was "appealing to lizard's brains" in reference to the lowest of the low snake in the grass reporting and commentary offered by Faux.

6. She is referring to the reptilian part of our brains which we all have
As we evolved we added more brain power around the reptilian part of the brain.

9. I already knew that, but thanks. For years I've been saying
that there's no point in trying to appeal to RWer's with logic, because they operate out of their primitive brain. Beck and his ilk appeal to the part of the brain concerned with survival, fight or flight.

I mistakenly didn't pick up on the poster's satirical tone. It was early in the a.m. :P

2. We need banners lots of them in red states saying unregulated corporations ...
Edited on Tue Feb-02-10 12:21 AM by ProgressOnTheMove
are the real potential slaughter. Corporate money buys toxic water and air ... the real slaughter you need government to be safe. With pictures of sludge and smog from coal plants. We go green to be clean and safe, even before we get to whether we believe climate change. If we at least have a counter response we keep the President safe. We have to adamantly respond to this incitement because the truth win through in the end over corporate dominance. I was thinking also I've put that Judy Chu in 2016 could be a good candidate well potentially whit their ruling she is an even better candidate. CHina has a huge chunk of the world population if they for a corporation they can donate to judy and make her the most successful candidate in history added bonus China are working for single payer it could catch on. If they are going to play that game we can sue the rules against them hahah. This wouldn't be real corporate money just citizens who would empathize with a candidate. Enabling her to run cleanly and for the people. In fact if we recruited all the world feminists, environmentalists and human rights activists to form a corporation and donate to candidates every Democrat could run clean how they like those apples. If folks get active around this idea ironically Alito you would of been correct, imagine that. Eventually this can get reversed with this not being a unanimous ruling, so we can get back to normal then but until the cavalry are coming the global women's activists and green peace, well it's an idea. Plus with the power of Hollywood celebs like say Dicaprio these corporations could take off massively very qucikly. If larger corporations buy them up we start new ones, there is a way back playing them on their own terms.

Is America Getting Over Keith Olbermann?
By JEFF BERCOVICI

Ratings for Olbermann's Countdown have been soft recently, and the 8 p.m. shows on CNN and HLN have narrowed the gap. In the important demographic of adults 25 to 54 -- the group advertisers are looking to reach -- Countdown was down 44% year-over-year in January. It averaged 268,000 viewers in that demo, only 3,000 more than Nancy Grace's show on HLN, and 12,000 more than CNN's Campbell Brown. Fox News's O'Reilly Factor dominated the hour with 964,000 viewers age 25 to 54, and was the only cable news show in the time period to increase its audience, by 55%.

7. I don't think we should take Olbermann's ratings too harshly...
At least, we should not take them as an indicator of American political sentiment. It is my experience that thinking people tend to watch a lot less television. And Fox is certainly not for thinking people.
