Congress HAD to stop funding it. But they didn't WANT to stop funding it that much. So they REFORMED (in the wrong way) the 'relationship' of congress with the people and made all these cozy 'deals' about what to do once they're out the door: they are 'presented' with 'offers they can't refuse' from the corporations they served while they were being (partly) PAID by the people's taxes before.

In a word: THEY DON'T CARE NOW IF we DEMAND ANYTHING OR SHOW THEM THE DOOR, because either way, THEIR personal FORTUNES will become ASSURED.

The U.S. is the most frightening, most powerful state terrorist in the world. Now they are building 7 new U.S. military bases in Colombia, one right near the Venezuelan border. Why? They have revived the Fourth Naval Fleet, moth-balled after World War II. Why? The U.S. has other bases in the Caribbean, effectively surrounding Venezuela. Why?

The reason is that Venezuela has lots of oil, as well as many other natural resources. American corporations, which once ran Venezuela through their right-wing puppets, want to reestablish their control over Venezuela.

Venezuela has never attacked any other country, it does not kidnap and torture others, does not detain others in "black sites", does not harbor terrorists, and presents no military threat to the United States, but the U.S. is now surrounding Venezuela with its military bases, just as it is surrounding Iran. The U.S. is funding the violent, undemocratic opposition to Chavez within Venezuela, and funding attempts to secede Venezuela's oil rich Zulia state from Venezuela. All for the sake of U.S. corporations' oil avarice.

The U.S. media is demonizing Chavez as undemocratic, publishing false tales of connections with terrorists, just as it demonized Saddam Hussein and made false claims about his supposed connections to Al Qaeda, whom the secular Saddam loathed. The script to take down Chavez and Venezuela has been written and is being implemented.

The citizens of the United States must say no to new oil wars, must say no to diverting tax money from our serious social needs to war and terrorism against other countries. We must demand that the U.S. end its horrific attacks on innocent civilians throughout the world. We must end U.S. terrorism for good.
