If they totally depopulate and deflorate the Gulf..there will be no way anyone can raise objections to further drilling as there will be nothing left there to protect.

2. Ah yet another nasty conspiracy theory.
Except when an individual sees all the ways that BP was negligent - the failure to have the
$ 500,000 device that would have created alarms long before the final realization by the workers that things were going wrong, the fact that the testing that normally would go on for 37 hours was only done for less than three, etc then it starts to seem that BP didn't need to use normal safety methods.

If they managed to secure the well they were drilling for, they would be the top outfit in the Gulf, as no one else was onto that paaticular oil reserve (too clsoe to the methane source for other oil companies to attempt it.)

And if they failed to do it safely, they would be wiping every living thing out of the way, so now they don't need to worry about the pesky environmental regulations.
