EXACTLY. How can people not see this? We need to embrace this kind of logic - along with the other reasons Cenk listed - instead of anti-drug propaganda hysteria. Legalize, tax, and educate. It's the right, humane way to approach the situation.

What about all the unfortunate people that end up going away to prison for smoking pot? That is a travesty of justice and humanity of the magnitude of slavery and witch burning. It's just as fucking medieval, too!

There but for the grace of God go about half of the entire U.S. Population. (Change that stat to the correct number of American's ever surveyed that admit they took a puff of pot in their lives. I don't know off the top of my head, but I suspect it's substantial, like at least a third of the population? And the last three President's, besides!)

And create jobs by setting up distribution networks that include checking the stuff for purity and strength. I don't use it - never have. Let everyone that wants it - have it - for free. No crimes to be able to buy your next fix. All you have to do to get your drug recipient ID card is sign a waiver of hospitalization/rehab so as not to be a burden on we intelligent sorts.

you want to talk "your dollar is your vote", the people vote for drugs. They love drugs. They'll use drugs, even if you manage to take everything away from them except Whip-It. But they'll kill a lot less brain cells if they're allowed to just smoke some weed.

With the overinflated price of drugs due to prohibition, you could charge people so much less and still have a huge amount of room for taxation, and use those taxes for public works (or useless wars, whatever).
