1. That's enough to make you cry.
I hope they can get in some nets or skimmers or something and clean it up. Really sad.

3. I would bet it is from the Ships dumping. Many of the shipping lines come down from Venice Italy

down along Croatia. Cruise lines and major shipping comes down along Croatia.

I was just in Dubrovnik, Croatia last Fall, it is a lovely place and the people are so sweet and kind.

They are calling it the New Riveria, the waters were pristine and the coast so beautiful. A pretty rocky coast, so I can see how trash would get caught in the rocks.

My hubby and i went on a Boat ride along the water and there were still resorts along the water that had the roof tops blown off and windows blown out from the war, beautiful abandoned resorts along the beautiful water.

I kept saying , ..there will be a Hyatt , and a Westin, and Hilton...as we went along the coast line.

Many cruise lines are now stopping in Dubrovnik.

The people there are very sweet to we Americans, and they Lovvvvve Bill Clintooon!!

4. I agree about the beauty of Croatia
I would hate for this video to leave people with the idea that the whole country is dirty. It is not.

5. I saw the beginnings of this in Croatia in 1974 and 1982
I was first there with my brother on the tiny Island of Ilovik. It was beautiful, unspoiled, everything you could want.
The waters off Dubrovnik were already cloudy and not fit for swimming, but Ilovik (near Mali Lošinj) was totally unspoiled.
There weren't even any roads on the island, and no hotels. Local families took visitors in.

When I returned to Ilovik in 1982, there was now a small yacht harbor with oversized yachts coming over from Italy, and rich
Italians dumping their trash in the water and monopolizing the two restaurants and cafés. The son of the island's party
head (Tito was gone by now, but not the ruling party) wanted to build a small airstrip and luxury hotels on the island.

I have no idea if his ideas were ever implemented or not. After my wife and I heard that, we never returned.
