3. This flooding is not exactly.....
...related to the levees that were blown-up, but they are both part of the overall larger problem of excessive runoff of the snow melt from this past winter, and the spring rains.

4. Kind of a side note
With the flooding, the tornadoes and wild swings in the weather, it makes sense why the plains Indians adopted a nomadic life rather than building permanent settlements on the banks of the rivers and throughout the central and mid-west regions. Just a guess.

8. hmm...
Much of what we're taught about the cultures of this continent's indigenous populations prior to European incursions is misleading. Perceptions of the 'nomadic' lifestyles of the 'Plains tribes' are greatly influenced by the syncretism that occurred after the Europeans introduced the horse and the long rifle. For many indigenous groups, behavior we might label 'nomadic' was a direct response to the violence and other threats imposed by invading Europeans. Today's fledgling historians could build a life's career on writing less prejudicial histories of this nation's indigenous populations.

10. Interesting
I'm always interested in learning about pre-European America. I'll keep an open mind. Thanks for the reply!

5. The effect on...
just about all the agriculture coming out of the Midwest? I think we better get used to shorter planting seasons from Indiana to Colorado from now on. We are talking about the wheat and corn belts. I wonder if any corn is in the ground in Iowa or Illinois.
But not to fear it is only a natural phenomenon and not global warming because the press and right wingers say so.

7. The question in my mind is
how much in cuts will the GOP insists on before they consider disaster aid for those poor people?

9. This won't be a big deal until Kansas is flooded
and the Kochs can't get to their country club. Then we'll see some real action.
