1. OK, that was pretty good, mainly because I fast forwarded (yanked the counter at the bottom forward)

past all of O'Reilly's ridiculous BS at the beginning to where Ben Stein started trying to talk to the lunatic like a sane person.

Truly, could he sound like a more pompous, ignorant, condescending oaf if he intentionally tried? I doubt it.

That was funny though. Do you think he thought they were both going to agree with him? And Stein isn't a Democrat. Is he still a Republican or have they gone too crazy for him now? He used to be a Republican.

11. Stein is a Republican, and a very right-wing one.
But, apparently, not an insane one. At this moment, he stands to the left of every Republican candidate except Jon Huntsman.

13. Huntsman raised his hand on the 10 to 1 question at the debate and
said he would support Paul Ryan's budget so I don't think people should read too much into him.

7. Stein opposed the tax cuts since 2003
He argued that tax cuts during time of war was a disastrous idea.

22. Anyone with half a brain would take
that position.

But the GOP objective was to starve the beast. So the GOP did exactly what they wanted. They stopped talking so openly about their "starve the beast" strategy as they did in the 1980s but their goal has never changed.

6. He moved away from acting in the 80's
He has moved into business and investment -- mostly property related
He is on one of Fox News' shows quite often. I think that's why O' LIElly had him on. He was expecting him to agree with Sill-Oh and it didn't happen

8. a very important point ALL progressives need to memorize...
Higher Tax rates on Capital Gains and Corporate profits ARE DIRECTLY tied to higher employment. When these rates are high, companies and investors leave money in the company and find ways to use it to grow the company, not take profits or pay bonuses. More cash for Rand D means more jobs, more jobs mean more competition for best workers, means higher wages and benefits leading to.....take a wild guess....CONSUMER DEMAND, which drives MOST of our economy. I know it is probably too much info to get in when arguing with a foaming mouthed teabagger, but it absolutely is true and supported by the anecdotal evidence of both post-ww2 America and the Cut cut cut Bush Jr years. Memorize it. Use it.

19. But if the inverse it true then were are the jobs in this time of low capital gains taxes?
banks and corporations (and their employees - everyone basically) are sitting on trillions that normally would be flowing into the system.

I agree that consumer demand (poor and middle class spending) drives the economy by the way I just think that it is a few steps away, a matter of degree, and a bit of a stretch to say that capital gains lead to consumer demand being hiring.

30. I believe you misunderstood
the post. The poster is saying higher taxes on capital gains and profit leads to greater employment and higher consumer demand. At least that is how I read it.

on the air on Fox. That is the only way the ditto heads are going to hear it.
I know my Dad heard that and he needs to hear more. Thank you Mr. Stein.

24. As usual, Bill-O is wrong, wrong wrong.
even to the insignificant "...Buffett, no relation to Jimmy, by the way..." In fact, Warren and Jimmy are cousins. It's good to see him confronted with truth, especially presented by conservatives, but facts never get in the way of his opinions.

25. Mr. Stein and Mr. Rogers were quite rational. And it didn't matter a bit.
Mr. O'Reilly wouldn't budge from his preconceived notions at all. He only cared about what he believed, not about what Mr. Stein informed him was the actual historical truth.

Sounds like he's shilling for Reagan and pumping up the American people to accept his "trickle down" scam.

It's been 30 years, Bill, and it didn't work! Give it up!!!

31. It is always important to note when discussing O'Reilly that he is an intellectual moron
He is perhaps the highest paid idiot on cable television. His maturity level is that of a 12 yr. old and his understanding of issues is less than superficial.

33. What makes the economy, run let alone "soar", is middle class and poor spending
that is the foundation. O'Reilly directed the discussion towards adding on to the attic.
