I was so impressed with these people. I was stunned to see that someone called the police. One policewoman said they could not protest, but someone assured her protesting was still legal in this country for now.

What a well-spoken group of people. Durn those liberals. Just kidding.

I would love to live in a city where so many would speak up about truth.

I've marched w/my fellow Brooklynites against the war in Iraq, but always with a permit.

17. Well, well, it's Ms. "Me, Me, Me, Me, Me" again.
Edited on Sun Nov-11-07 11:14 AM by Fly by night
I can just hear you (again) now:

"Well, that's enough about me. Tell me, what do you think about me?"

Not much.

(Edited to take one too many "me"s out of the title. Fredda's not THAT self-absorbed ;^) )

23. Ah, so think I'm a celebrity? I'm a private citizen and it's not about me
But I've done public work and yes, it's all relevant. It wasn't my personal bizness on the evening news. (and don't you hate to be reminded of that!)

24. Excuse me. I thought you were the "Fredda Weinberg" on DU who taught Al Gore about the internet.
Didn't know we had two of them here. If you're the "other one", I would suggest you get a new DU nickname. One "Fredda" around here is more than enough. (Really.)

BTW, the only time I'm on the evening news is when I speak out for voter-verified paper ballots and other elements of election integrity (which I will do again tomorrow night at the premiere of "UNCOUNTED: The New Math of American Elections" in Nashville), and when I speak out for medical cannabis (which I will do again before a Tennessee legislative study committee on Tuesday which is deliberating about re-establishing our state's medical cannabis program.)

I am proud to be a media whore for both of these issues. And I'm pleased at how much media (and public) support I have received here in Tennessee for the latter position, which led me to do 18 months in a federal Bureau of Prisons halfway house, a small price to pay to allow the Goddess to be used to ease pain and suffering again. I would like to see even more media attention for the former issue (election integrity). But if we never stop fighting for issues we believe in (and not just talk incessantly about them and about ourselves), we cannot lose.

Ah, civil disobedience. Where would our country be without it?

Now go change your DU nickname before someone else confuses you with that "other" Fredda Weinberg. She's all that (just ask her) ... and a tad bit less.

25. My white pager on Florida's voter scrub went to Gore ... wasn't that enuf?
I'm glad you're attending a fundraiser, but if you search the 'net, you'll know how many I organized. Glad I don't do that full time anymore

If you see the great one again, tell him I'm happy to have taken his hand, but honestly, I disagree w/him about the telecomm act and wish he'd never given away the freenets. But if you search Usenet's archives, you'll know I was doing all I can back then to bring the benefits of the technology to the general public. Glad I don't have to show up every Saturday morning anymore

Don't it bother you? Thank you for a well-earned giggle.

12. If the cops ask to see a protest permit....
Just tell them it's on file at the National Archives Building in Washington DC. Filed under "First Amendment"

26. Cops don't have to ask ... they're a paramilitary organization
and permitted demonstrations are well noticed. No one I know has ever had a problem getting the proper paperwork to avoid disrupting traffic.

15. These are the Senators who could have voted down Mukasey for USAG
...

<snip>
Besides Schumer and Feinstein, Democrats voting to confirm Mukasey were: Sens. Evan Bayh of Indiana, Tom Carper of Delaware, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Ben Nelson of Nebraska.

Of the Senate's two independents, Joe Lieberman of Connecticut voted for confirmation and Bernie Sanders of Vermont voted against.

Not voting were Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden of Delaware, Hillary Clinton of New York, Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Barack Obama of Illinois. All four had said they opposed Mukasey's nomination.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain of Arizona also was absent, as were GOP Sens. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and John Cornyn of Texas.

Very articulate comments. I hope the vid is widely viewed. Thanks for sharing. Perhaps it's something Keith could show?

(Does anyone think the older woman who shows up at approximately the 2:18 and 3:28 marks looks like one of the Law & Order/SVU/CI recurring "regulars?")
Thanks again, madfloridian.

She may be more widely known for her performances on "Law & Order", but she has a lot bigger credits. See reply 21.

21. Good to see some star power on board
with this protest. The well-spoken woman in the pink scarf is Kathleen Chalfant, the brilliant Tony Award winning actress. What a great insurance policy in case anyone gets arrested and illegally detained--the media would surely show up to cover that! I'm proud of my fellow New Yorkers, and like them, Charles Schumer has lost any chance of my voting for him in the future. K&R! :kick: :kick: :kick:
