The Obama campaign has been touting a mystery "major endorsement," to be announced on a conference call today.

I've just learned from a source familiar with the decision that it's Senator Patrick Leahy.

That's a big endorsement for Obama -- he's a major liberal standard bearer who's been in the Senate for over three decades. More in a bit.

3. This is great, but I hope that Ted Kennedy indorses him

Leahy is fantastic to try to get some of the ex-Dean Edwards people. He was incredible on the torture bill - giving a great, very detailed speech.

4. Well, we know with Kerry that the campaign determined the time.

I think a Ted Kennedy endorsement right before Super Tuesday would be wonderful. I don't know, however, whether he'll endorse at all. I can't see him endorsing Clinton.
