Countdown to Health Care!! I Don't Know About You, But I'm Excited As Hell
First let me make a confession:

I tuned out of the details long ago.

Seeing that every single republican was against the bill;

that was enough for me. I'm sorry, and I apologize dear DU, but I didn't give a damn about the other details after that.

And now that it's going to get done with all the republicans against it, it's all the more sweeter.

It was nerve-wracking, but since we're going to get something done afterall, I'm now ever so happy that the republicans fought so hard against it.

Next up: They're gonna fight against doing something about un-employment. Dashing themselves against the rocks.

(I wouldn't dare post this in GDP. LOL)

1. It's going to be a good start for
a lot of people and geared to actually help the economy in the long run.

And, when it's signed by Pres Obama..it will be on to the next big thing which like you say is Jobs!

3. I'm excited as well! This is a major piece of legislation, and we're
getting it done!

A friend asked me about the mandates....they don't worry me.

It may sound strange, but I know darn well that (south side of Chicago) Michelle and Barack Obama are not going to allow folks to be locked up or harmed with this mess. I refuse to believe that. They have to come back home sometime, and that wouldn't go over very well. I grew up in Chicago, and they are 'my neighbors' in my head. LOL :)

14. Right! It's what I keep telling myself about the mandates. No way will
this bill allow people to be penalized out the wazoo. I love your comment about them having to come home sometime. I know they're thinking about all the rest of the country, too.

4. Excitement here too.
I remember well the ugly Medicare battle, and I really didn't think I would live long enough to see this day come.

5. I don't think people really understand how significant
this is going to be. This is huge in terms of asserting power by the democrats.

What are the republicans going to run on in 2012 when the democrats can talk about all the benefits they brought by enacting health care reform. What did the republicans do?

Then there's the fact that so much effort has been put into making sure that Obama wins nothing, absolutely nothing at all.

This is very significant. Not just for health care.

6. It's a major blow to the Reagan revolution:
and the contract they put out on America.

The republicans are right about one thing: it's a seismic shift away from them and their "solutions."

It's interesting to me that so many ivory tower types and utopians can't see it.

7. and it's a shame that you feel you can't post
this in GDP. :argh: This is what I came to DU for--like minds who can discuss, not berate one another.

I'm really proud of our President and all that he's accomplished in his short tenure.

Getting this bill passed is a huge feat - even if I'm not entirely happy with the details, I am thrilled to see it happen. Now the work will begin to make it better. The Republicans can't do anything to stop it and that makes me happy too.

11. I've been holding my breath every step of the way
and can't exhale until it passes.

This will be such a blow to obstructionist republicans. I know it is because McCain is running around trying to convince other Dems to switch parties. I smell big fear.

13. The icing on the cake is that it will frame the State of the
Union very nicely.

I can hardly wait for that speech.

15. I'm optimistic, but not the least bit excited.
I'll be excited when the House and Senate actually vote on a bill for the President to sign.

Then I'll definitely be excited.

This current vote is just another in a LONG line of steps to get us there.
