I started caring when the sheriff released her after three days. It's a big deal to some of us because we believe her case represents all that we have come to dislike in our justice system. Mainly that the rich and powerful have one set of rules while everyone else has a different set.

That is actually an interesting question. However the 10 minutes I wasted that I will never ever reclaim googling for information about how the state of California deals with similar situation lead me absolutely nowhere. I have no idea if Paris got treatment that was different at all from how similar cases are dealt with. My guess is that the LA jails have bigger fish to fry than folks in for suspended license violationws, but that is only a guess.

I'm not sure what's more purvasive...the Paris threads or the "I'm tired of Paris" threads. Either way, by Monday, Paris once again will be relegated to the Lounge or wherever she lurks around here...and there's be some other dead blonde or intoxicated celeb or other freak of corporate media that will get the "daily treatment" here.

Fortunately, many of us around here have the capacity to do walk and chew gum at the same time and can be mildly amused by the Hilton circus (yes, there are some issues within, but corporate media isn't going near them) but also were very aware of the sacking of Peter Pace and the failure of the Immigration bill. Ya see, it can be done...and is by many here.

The term is "breads and circuses"...and most of us have a diet of both. Honestly, it's these manufactured stories that sometimes bring out the best in the snarks and more here at DU. Hell...living with all the depressing news from the boooosh regime one needs a release now and then.

The only Paris Hilton I care about is the one I hope to visit next year...or the Grand Hotel.
