42. As a San Diego resident I think Union Trib is more liberal, which isn't saying much!

Both of these papers are pretty conservative. The Union Tribune actually lets some pretty decent independent articles to get released at times (the Carol Lam firing article and the one that got Duke Cunningham in trouble), but they usually pick the wrong candidates in their voters guides.

The NC Times is a bit more liberal in their publishing of online comments from people on articles, but that's about it.

There's an online web site here ( http://www.voiceofsandiego.org/ ) which has former members of these papers on it, so if you want to get truly divergent viewpoints from around here, you might try visiting there.
