If you look at the Yahoo top story now -
It is about the "new" offensive just starting.

They seem to buy that - that the troops just got there and it is starting crap.

They were moving since last summer - this is not new - and has been ongoing since BEFORE the elections in November.

You know I wish it was possible that a push could stop this - but I know it is impossible.

I think the last curtain just came up.

I am going to back to my don't listen to CNN anymore mode.

Joe

1. Geeze, I surely hope you weren't expecting the truth. It's CNN. It's not
going to happen.

I know what you mean. It is so depressing to be lied to by everyone. Our government, our own party, the media. Damn.

2. You are right you know - I guess I was getting used to
Paris Hilton stories. I forgot they don't know where their ass is located.

Remember now.

3. You know, when I read posts like yours I get so damn depressed
because it hits me as to what this poor country has become.

But I guess that it was destined. When bush** usurped the pResidency it was obvious that nothing good could happen or come from it.

6. Then screw me =- I have no right to make anyone here
depressed. - DO you have any idea just what you did? You guys - all of you - you brought reality into view - you really did. For a country that lost its way.

Look, I am personally distressed about that boy - but he is just one in many of the kids we have as a country. I do love them all - I just love the kid a little more. Just me.

You could not have done more than what you did for those dumb kids. You feel proud - you did the right thing!!!!

5. The truth is it has been for some time.
In our lives we get dealt a certian amount of luck. At some point - we run out.

And that is where it is for the kid - I lived thru too many wars not to see it. I can look at this on emotional and an intellectual level.

How many times do you get blown up and walk away exactly??

I didn't mean to go here - I think I have come to terms with the deal. At least I think I can put away the anger I feel - I think.

That is a lot.

7. This has been going on since the flightsuit fashion show
That was supposed to be "Mission Accomplished"

Then they said things would be fine once Ouday and Qusay were dead

Then it was when Saddam was caught

Then it was when the Iraqi interim government was established

Then the country would be stabilized once a Constitution was approved

Then we were told things would be fine when an Iraqi permanent government was elected

Then there were the "last throes"

After that there was the "turning a new corner"

I'm sure they're cooking up new slogans and scams that will follow the "surge". We're not building a dozen permanent bases and the world's largest Embassy for nothing and Bush is not comparing Iraq to Korea where we have a permanent army for no reason.

9. I know - I am just an asshole that should get counseling -
Got it -

Can't deal with my kid over there - all that crud.

But this is true - we don't control that little area - we are screwed. There is no way out for us at that point.

That is Custer's last stand time - right there. In that screwed up little province - Dialya. Really is.

I want the "people" that did or had something to do with the NY bombing dead - no prisoners - just dead - I do And I want that army out of there to fight another day too.

SO I am not so liberal I guess - But I am realistic. And if we don't do this - this country is screwed.

I am pretty sure. And I will not accept that.

Joe

8. This 'surge' started in January. NOTHING changes come September.
Petraeus said as much yesterday.

War is good for the media. It sells.

10. Lead elements were there in August.
Before the elections, orders were issued to most units to concentrate right there.

Really.

We didn't even matter - it was already decided.

"Betray-us" - -he violated most of his precepts of war before he even took the job - he really did.

That is why I call him that. That and the fact he is the idiot that trained the Iraqi forces (and I use the term forces loosely).

I know assholes when I see them- I am one. And he is one. Maybe it takes one to know one.

We are probably screwed at this point.

Joe
