I've been wondering about something in the "Morans" guy's picture

Yeah, as if I had to show it again. Anyway, look at the sign the little girl on the right is holding. I've always wondered what it says. Any speculation? It looks like the first word is "Free." Perhaps it says "Free the Rich," but that's kinda stupid. Of course, Morans Guy is even stupider. What does that kid's sign say? What can it be? What can it be???

The sign clearly reads "Get A BRAIN! MORANS" No one fluent in English, be they Freepers or normal people, would insert an explanation point in the middle of a sentence like that. And to that end, I have spent hours researching this photo on the internets.

The guy's last name is MORANS. He was simply signing his own poster. I, and I believe I can speak for most folks here, am horrified that this "misunderstanding" has gone unchecked for so long. We owe Mr. Morans a heartfelt apology.

It definitely offers a window into how people like that think...but it's a damn scary one to peek through.

So. First, he gives Giuliani all the credit for cleaning up NYC (incorrect, but a long story); second, he thinks of global terrorism as something that can be cleaned up using the same "broken-window theory" approach as was used to clean up NYC. He uses this as an excuse for why he believes it does not really matter to him that there were no WMD, and why it does not really matter to him that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11. Hey, it's all terrorism, right? And we gotta fight TERRORISM, and fix the broken windows of the world, or people will think we just don't care, right?

I think he is simplifying a bit there, to say the least. I also think that this neocon solution to fixing "broken windows" is as if NYC said: "OK, there is too much vandalism and crime in this city. And it looks as if people from, um, the poorest parts of the Bronx are responsible. Well, you know what that means. We have to send the cops into the poorest parts of Queens, and have them just start shooting."

Yikes.
