CNN's Roberts: "We do definitely know that Mitt Romney is pro-family"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200706190002?f=h_latest

On the June 18 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, while discussing Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, CNN anchor John Roberts said to host Wolf Blitzer: "{A}s the Reverend Jerry Falwell said before his death, 'As long as a candidate is pro-life and pro-family, he's all right with me.' We do definitely know that Mitt Romney is pro-family." Roberts added: "The jury is still out among some conservatives as to whether or not he is in fact pro-life or remains, as he was as governor of Massachusetts, quote, 'effectively pro-choice.' " While Roberts did not elaborate on his characterization of Romney as "pro-family," Media Matters for America has noted numerous instances of media figures equating "conservative" positions with "pro-family" positions.

6. Bush Has Destroyed More Families Than Any President In History
since Lincoln. And Lincoln had a passably good reason. Romney with his demand for a monster army, would do even more damage.

8. Against reproductive rights, against equality for gay americans,
against sex education other than abstinence hectoring in public schools, against secular education in general, you know - pro-family.

12. No he's not
If you're pro family you need to be

for gun control laws to protect our children.
for universal health care to protect everyone.
for proper educational funding and ideas, not NCLB.
for clean energy and a healthy environment.

Romney isn't pro-family. He's pro-gunlobby, pro-healthinsurancelobby, pro-coalplants...etc.

Last I looked gay people and abortionists weren't a problem for most familes, while gun safety, health care, education, and our environment are.

13. So true. So why has our party allowed all of these terms to be
co-opted for the specific use of the Rethuglicans...and so we are left being what...anti-family...anti-life? I realize the media has been a huge influence in this, but I guess I don't see us fighting back much.

15. media is a big factor, but we are guilty
Or at least our leaders are.

I don't know what happens to these people at the highest levels to rip their backbones out but the few that have them stand out like sore thumbs and then get ridiculed by the media.

I really think the Dems need to start really pushing the fact that we're pro-family. We're for the things that families need. Better wages, better healthcare, better environment, safer communities, better education. Heck even our foreign policy is more pro-family. We don't want our brave soldiers risking their lives for no point. How is it pro-family to send troops over to Iraq to die for no reason and leave children without mothers and fathers for the rest of their lives?

Why that's not pushed home more I don't know. I think it probably is, but we just don't hear about it on TV or in the papers.

16. How does John Roberts define "pro-family" ????
What do people mean when they say that. I want to see their specific definition. If it doesn't include making sure all families have healthy food and adequate healthcare, I don't really want to hear about it.
