Family found shot to death in Tilden Regional Park (Financial problems - murder/suicide)

Family found shot to death in Tilden Regional Park released

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - More details are emerging about the Berkeley family found shot to death in Tilden Regional Park in an apparent murder-suicide.

East Bay Park District Police have identified the two dead adults as 51-year-old Kevin Morrissey and his wife, 40-year-old Mamiko Kawai.

Kawai was a doctor.

The couple's two children were identified as eight-year-old Nikki Morrissey and six-year-old Kim Morrissey. They had also been shot.

A 357-Magnum revolver, which was registered to Morrissey, was found at the scene.

Authorities also found a suicide note at the scene they believe to have been written by the adult male. In the note the person who wrote it describes financial problems at the couple's skin care practice.

8. You go!
I hope I get to read what you write someday.

I worked really hard to get to Berkeley and it was everything and more than I imagined. And from my house, I could hear the campanile marking the hours. I loved the whole world checking in -- in some way. The hills, the water. The sense that things were possible and that people were in it for the community. Bunch of commies!

Write it for those of us who won't.

:)

9. jesus people
if you have financial problems and can't solve them except by suiciding, why take out the spouse and kiddies?

why couldn't the "adult male" have offed himself and left the family behind to pick up the pieces with the help of the life insurance (assuming he had it for more than 2 years, since you can't just buy it and knock yourself off the same day)

i don't grok the idea of wiping out the whole family over something like this? sure the survivors would be depressed and stressed if he did it my way, but doing it his way, they're fucking DEAD!

10. This was domestic abuse....to it's final conclusion
Many male abusers cannot bring themselves to kill themselves (alone) and leave their wife and children living. It happens everyday. This will be happening with increasing frequency in the next few years.

11. They are called
Shrinks call this particular form of abuse, this pathology, "family annihilators". They have narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies. They don't think their families will survive without them AND they don't want to look bad in the eyes of their family. Sometimes they kill themselves and sometimes they just go start over with a whole new family or that is often their plan. They don't usually get away. It occurs occasionally in women but is predominantly a male crime/pathology.
