Giuliani Prefers His Godfather Imitation

DES MOINES — Years before he became known as the squeegee-busting mayor of New York and ages before his name became forever linked with Sept. 11, Rudy Giuliani made his reputation fighting the mafia.

So who better to critique Senator Hillary Clinton’s spoof video on the “Sopranos” finale? (He even used members of the cast in a mobbed-up skit for the annual Inner Circle roast in March 2001.)

“I still prefer my Godfather imitation,” he said. “But you know, I have a lot more practice at it and a lot more experience with it.”

A reporter in the back of the media scrum shouted for him to give the crowd a taste.

“I am not, like, in the mood for it,” he said, perhaps getting a bit of performance anxiety. “I have to be like in the mood for doing it. I need a big audience and I need to put gauze in my mouth to get it exactly right.”
