I Just Walked Out Of "I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY"
Someone I know just sent me this. Thought I'd share.

I Just Walked Out Of "I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY"...

I went into this screening tonight really hoping it wouldn't be an offensive homophobic flick aimed at 10 year olds which, I know now, was silly of me. Looking at the audience around me was a mix of kids from ages 10-15 and your typical Adam Sandler audience with a sprinkling of a few gay men for good measure. This crap starts out showing what a ladies man Sandler's character is so when he "goes gay" you know it can't possibly be because he would EVER have any interest in the same sex. I mean, he can even get twin sisters to make out with each other in public! I lost track of how many times the word "faggot" was used but I knew at one point I'd heard it thrown around one too many times and got up and just left, but not before seeing enough truly tasteless jokes aimed at women, asians, latinos, gay children (because in this film it's the worst crime of all to have a son who would prefer auditioning for PIPPIN than playing football like the old man), gay men, lesbians and transsexuals. I'm sure in the end both Chuck & Larry learn to tollerate the "faggots" they speak of (Sandler in particular) but by halfway through this movie, which I'm sure will make a killing at the box office, this faggot had had enough.

Avoid this one like the plague, guys.

1. I wasn't likely to see it anyway, but now I'll make doubly sure
After all Ratatouile and Transformers are out or almost, with a latent desire to see Live Free or Die Hard in the background.

20. I also wanted to see Live Free
until I was channel surfing and saw Bruce Willis' smiling mug on o'reilly the other night. Much as I love my action flicks I'm not sure I can give him my seven bucks.

3. Sandler's not exactly noted for being a highly evolved being . . .
More like a latter-day Jerry Lewis, except more creepy in person. What could one expect?

9. I can't stand him
They keep playing Happy Gilmore on CBC (our TV network) and I can't imagine why anyone finds him funny.

Slapstick stopped being funny in the 1940's.

And Americans seem to go nuts over his Hanukkah song, but the first time I heard it, I went :wtf:

22. Naaah, slapstick will always be funny as long as humans draw breath . . .
But Sandler's is tired and unfunny.

4. This faggot won't be going to see that movie.
I had my doubts before, but I've heard nothing but bad things about that movie so far, this OP included. No thanks, I'll pass. There are other movies out now that are not inflammatory and that I'm sure are...you know...good.

5. People who write scripts like that...
Edited on Fri Jun-29-07 08:53 AM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
Should be made to read them, end to end, in the center of a circle of big, nasty, terminally self-empowered drag queens. You know the kind: divas who could fight and win in the UFC. In 5 inch pumps and full makeup, never mussing their hair.

6. He said in the first 20 minutes he heard
the words faggot tossed around so many times he lost count. Early on you feel its not pro gay. Sandler pushes and almost desperately assures us HE'S STRAIGHT SO DON'T THINK I'M GAY!!!! We'll see.

13. I'm guessing you're also the one person
who found Faux News' attempt at political comedy (you know, to combat The Daily Show and The Colbert Report)"really funny", also. Well, Rush said it was "hilarious" and it did feature that fall-down funny Ann Coulter. Too bad the show just didn't catch on.
But, hey, you still have Adam Sandler and gay-bashing jokes.
Enjoy.

17. We should definatly judge people based on
what movies they watch. That seems like a really good idea.

23. Definitely!
(I think "definitely" was what you were going for here). For example, "The Big Lebowski". If you meet someone and they just didn't get it, don't waste your time. Move on. OR if they just Loved "Patch Adams" you know you're in trouble.
Movies are "definitely" a source for judging people.

27. Waitress was overrated IMO
I know it's a minority viewpoint but I found it too cutesy, especially Adrienne Shelley's story, and the ending defied reality.

18. You actually paid money to see an Adam Sandler movie?
Wow. What were you thinking? I hope you paid matinee prices, at least.

You don't go to Rob Schneider movies, do you?

Friends don't let friends throw their time and money away on Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider movies.

24. When these kinds of movies are released
the immediately go on my "must miss" list as opposed to my "must see" list

My partner and I saw previews for it a day or so ago. This brought up the subject of how gays/lesbians have been portrayed in the media.

After much weighing of the pros and cons of this particular movie - we decided that while it's good the subject of being gay/lesbian is addressed in the media. The portrayal leaves much to be desired.

Think of it this way - a remake of "ROOTS" with all white actors in black face

28. I just don't get Adam Sandler...he CAN be a good actor...
He takes part in crap like this and...well, most of his other films, but he was absolutely brilliant in "Reign Over Me." My wife says he was quite good in "Spanglish" as well. The one about the remote control was pretty good, too.

immediately I had no desire to see it. Having Adam Sandler in it is a drawback, not a plus, for me.
