Rahm Using Cheney to Raise Money
from Rahm Emmanuel's latest missive in my inbox asking for a donation for DCCC....

According to Dick Cheney, everything we learned in school is wrong. Instead of three branches of government, there are now four – the legislative, the executive, the judicial, and Dick Cheney.

In an attempt to obstruct meaningful oversight and avoid being held accountable, the Vice President said he did not consider himself part of the executive branch.

We both know the power to hold Dick Cheney accountable belongs to Congress. Could you possibly think of a better reason to have a stronger Democratic Majority?

Within the next 48 hours, you can help us take one step closer to just that. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is up against a critical midyear fundraising deadline and needs your help to gain the early support we need to secure and strengthen our Majority. House Democrats are so committed they will match your contributions 2-to-1.

....

How stupid does Rahm think we are? He thinks we should give him money so Dems can keep their powder dry and win in 2008.

Guess what, Rahm? Cheney won't be in office after the 2008 election.
You're basically saying - we won't do anything about Cheney's illegal activities - we're going to give him a free pass. But we want you to give us money anyway so you can pretend we're doing something about Cheney?

Can we sue Dem leaders for negligence?

2. Sounds like Rahm doesn't plan on it
at least not until 2009, anyway.

This letter is very revealing about the intentions of our Dem leaders in Congress - they don't intend to lift a finger to hold Cheney or anyone in the Bush administration accountable. And they think we're too dumb to figure that out.

I stand corrected, Dem leaders in Congress have learned some lessons from Rove and the GOP. They've learned to manipulate their base to raise money without having to deliver on any of their promises.

3. Sue Rahm for disrespecting CITIZENS with his dog and pony shows.
He already mocked those of us who want accountability for crimes of office 'goo-goos' because we call for good governance.

What does THAT tell you about the man's ethics?

4. No more money from me.
I made the decision yesterday. I will no longer financially enable the dysfunctional organization that is the Democratic Party.
The remarks of Pelosi and Obama yesterday were the final straw for me. They are saying that the interests of their party to be reelected are more
important than the interests of our country. And those interests of the Democratic Party seem to collude primarily with the corporations.

Until I see the evidence that the Democratic Party is truly interested in upholding and protecting our constitutional and removing these criminals from
office, I am no longer giving any donations.

6. Some of you were spluttering yesterday
when the other side was accusing Edwards of using Coulter to raise money. Many of you were happy to send him donations.

What is so different about this?

Flame away. I am getting used to it when I express unpopular opinions on DU.

7. first of all, it's Emanuel
And secondly over the din of the whining can be heard the slow grind of due process.

The investigations are shedding sunlight on the crimes of this administration. Impeachable crimes.

One foot in front of the other.

8. so don't give money to the DCCC
Don't help the Democrats keep control of the House, or expand their margin.

Were the Republicans doing a good job of it for you?
