1. Now, if I only knew what the Hagel amendment says
I'd know whether this was a good thing or a bad thing.

2. Webb, up now--don't vote for Graham amendment up for vote now--
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 05:49 PM by wienerdoggie
Levin says Graham amendment will be worse than the current policy--will increase time away for troops. Hagel amendment would have limited deployment to 12 months.

Webb-Hagel Fails. And We've Failed Our Troops. Again.

Where is the fairness? Where is the justice? How can time and time again we fail our men and women in uniform?

Today on Capitol Hill, the Webb-Hagel Amendment failed. This amendment, offered by a Republican Veteran and a Democratic Veteran who now serve their country in the United States Senate was critical to our men and women in uniform and to their families and to everyone who believes in this country.

Let me tell you something straight out.

Senators who voted against this amendment voted against our men and women in uniform -- plain and simple. They voted against giving our men and women the care and help they so desperately need when they come home from war. They voted against fair deployment practices -- you serve for fifteen months, you get to stay home for fifteen months.

I am absolutely furious that yet again, some people talk the talk about supporting our troops but when push comes to shove, when the rubber meets the road,

they vote NO.
