When I watched the documentary "Spin" I learned about Agran for the first time. I was shocked because I paid close attention to that race in the primaries and in the general election, and have no recollection of a candidate named Larry Agran, who was the Mayor and City Councilman from Irvine, California.

During the campaign, polls in New Hampshire scored him with between 1% and 4% of the vote, but the media ignored him. He was almost never interviewed by the national media, photographers would ask him to get out of the way when they photographed the Democratic field at a candidate event, and if he was photographed, his image would be chopped off in the picture. He was arrested for disrupting a New York Democratic presidential candidate debate to which he was not invited.

1. Yes I remember him/it well.
It was the first time that I became aware of the big steamroller that national politics is. There he was shoulder to shoulder with Clinton & the others briefly before he became a nuisance & got his ass kicked out.

2. Larry Agran is again Mayor Pro Tem of Irvine, CA
I see him at the local coffee shop on occasion. He is still a mover and shaker in Irvine, the only Democrat to have much success in this Republican enclave. Here is a link to his bio:
