Why Bush Will Be A Winner

I suppose I'll merely expose myself to harmless ridicule if I make the following assertion: George W. Bush's presidency will probably be a successful one.
Let's step back from the unnecessary mistakes and the self-inflicted wounds that have characterized the Bush administration. Let's look at the broad forest rather than the often unlovely trees. What do we see? First, no second terrorist attack on U.S. soil -- not something we could have taken for granted. Second, a strong economy -- also something that wasn't inevitable

2. First, there WERE second terrorist attacks on U.S. soil--

We call them "anthrax mailings." People even died. Second, a strong economy for the rich. That's pretty inevitable.

And third, and most important, a war in Iraq that that has been very difficult, didn't have to happen in the first place, has cost us tons of money, lives and goodwill, and -- despite some confusion this author is attempting to engender with this meaningless article -- appears to have no end in sight.

In short, we need to expose Kristol to HARMFUL ridicule. Either that, or get some of whatever he's smoking, because it has GOT to be good stuff to make him THIS delusional.

Oh, no, wait, I'm sorry, he's not smoking anything. Just drinking the usual Bush Kool-Aid.

Edit: I have to add...do not, I repeat, DO NOT read this article unless you really want your head to explode. Stuff like:

--"His tax cuts worked"
--"He successfully resisted protectionism"
--"His Medicare prescription drug benefit went surprisingly smoothly"
--"Privatized Social Security and his immigration bill will probably become law eventually if not now"
--"You have to admit Roberts and Alito are 'impressive' justices"
--"There has been less global terrorism"
--"Our foreign policy in general has turned out OK"
--"Yes, we DO have to win in Iraq, but I think we're going to, and here's why: Bush has found his Ulysses S. Grant, his Creighton Abrams...and his name is DAVID PETRAEUS!!!!! All hail the Mighty Petraeus!!!!!"
--"Last but not least, can he get a Republican elected next? Sure he can! Once the American public realizes that if it elects a Democrat it might get LIBERAL SUPREME COURT JUSTICES!!!!!!!!, it will recoil in horror and elect another Republican!"

In short...game, set, match for Lil' Georgie! He's a winner!!!!!!

5. Actually, I find it (at least the part I could read...) reassuring

Kristol has been invariably wrong about pretty much everything for the last 7 years or so. Usually wildly so.

So my read is that this pretty much cements it that we're right- the * mis-administration will be viewed as an unmitigated disaster.
