1. Seriously?
Hurricanes.

I'm dreading August and September for that reason.

Where are you planning to go? Maybe hold off until fall? Or do you have kids?

3. Dammit, that's what I'm thinking, too.
September 'used' to be fall where I come from (NY). We are planning on going to Phuket, but I do wonder about leaving.
But we cannot live in fear!

4. I forgot how far inland you are.
Aren't you in the Houston area?

If you're not planning on being gone long--no more than a couple of weeks--I'd go ahead and go in early August.

Late August and September will probably be most active.

6. We're leaving the end of August. Trip of the year.
We're gone, but I will worry. We do have a friend to keep tabs on the house. Here we go again, I'm thinking. x(

7. It'll probably be ok.
Once you get on the airplane, forget about home. That's what I have to force myself to do when we go on vacation.

And if you've got a friend to take care of the place, you'll be ok.

Have fun! I'm jealous. :P

8. For the first time in years, it's been super foggy out here on the beach.
We get a really sunny day, then days of curling thick fog. The sun is up there, somewhere.

And, I'm not a weatherman but my cousin does local traffic.

14. Get a Farmer's Almanac
A real one. The farmers where I come from say it's still the best weather-predictor evar. It will give you a decent idea of what to expect for August. As for Houston a hurricanes, I have no idea. I know I'm damned glad I live in West Texas when summer comes around. Houston is like a damned steam cooker in summer.
