Larry Flynt as Moralist

The first victim of Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flynt's most recent crusade, Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, stepped forward last week, admitting that he had used a Washington prostitution service...But as the senator tried to control the news cycle, the blogosphere dug up Vitter quotes about "family values" and "strong marriages", and Flynt reigned over the airwaves, admonishing Vitter for his hypocrisy.

The larger story became abundantly clear. Vitter will not be the last to fall, and Congress may not be the lone branch of government to deal with Flynt-fueled scandal in the months to come...

which is a name he chose for himself. Whether or not you're into porn, he is what he is, and in a free society, he gets to do what he does to please his market.

Vitter, on the other hand, was a moralist who preached abstinence to the masses while he hired whores to act out some pretty sick sexual fantasy.

That's the difference between them. Flynt is who he says he is. Vitter is a sanctimonious fake whose legislation has contributed to human misery by trying to criminalize a basic drive.

It's enough to make you mistrust all those morality preachers, right? If not, why not?

I said it before and I'll say it again - while Flynt's publishings have no appeal at all to me, I TOTALLY respect the man. He is absolutely a hero of the first amendment.

i know mike huckabee is a real fucking hypocrite--i saw him on cable a week or two ago talking about michael moore's weight--and then whoever was interviewing him (blitzer?) made the remark that huckabee was also overweight and had dropped over 100 pounds.
