Apparently, only American Conservative Christians can save us!

I research the Ultra-right Religious Bloc in this country (the URBies) a Separation of Church & State group I belong to; I came across this and had to vomit:

The greatest threat to world peace is radical Islam. If not for the United States, millions more would be suffering under the tyranny of sharia law all over the world. Our Muslim enemies know post-Christian Europe has already lost the will to fight. Africa, Asia, and South America seem to be already lost. Russia, China, and India would rather trade than fight…for now. And the United Nations continues to be irrelevant.

Only the United States, and more specifically, only the conservative, evangelical Christians of America are who stand between radical Islam and their quest for global domination.

If the world is to be saved from Muslim conquest, it will be America who does it. And if America is to be saved, only conservatism can do it. And if conservatism is to be saved, it will be those Bible-believing patriots who do it–those conservative, evangelical Christians who are the bedrock of the American way of life.

Why? Because only Christianity has the intellectual and spiritual horsepower to defeat radical Islam and prevent the world from returning to the darkness of the 7th century. After all, the story of the birth and growth of Western Civilization is pretty much the story of the birth and growth of Christianity. The divide between East and West today, fundamentally, is the divide between Islam and Christianity. Christians and Muslims know this, it’s the secularists who don’t get it–or at least won’t admit it.

I don't think it's possible to come up with something more disgusting and offensive (I exaggerate - I'm sure they'll surprise me later on)(for the record, I'm a believer myself - non-Christian, believer in the One-Consciousness, who is a proud member and donor of Americans United for Separation of Church & State)!

Yeah, the darkness of the 9th century should suffice.

...and all technology derived therefrom.

15. If I'm not mistaken....
..."zero" was a concept first stated by the Arab mathematicians, too.

Math in Roman numerals, and no zero to boot?

Now that would really suck..... :wow:

4. Of course they have to rationalize their ignorant worldview
It's really all they have left. They've already proven they can't govern, or protect, or educate. Their house of cards is half-way down and they know the next shove will expose their bankrupt philosophy. They'll go down kicking and screaming though, that we can be sure of.

7. In the upcoming campaign, you will
see just how much hypocrisy those on the right have. It will be hard to explain how all these years they have been so critical of those that are Pro Choice and would never support a person, but if they happen to support Rudy, then people should be made aware of their hypocrisy....

I do thank you
Ben David

They are just tools of the Rabid Right, because the site is funded by multi-millionaire rightwingers, who expect propaganda for their buck, I suppose.

12. The dark ages were caused by religious fanatics, not a 'religion' like Islam
Someone needs to remind these fanatics of all the evils that christain fanatics once commited in the name of god and christianity, like starting wars, not to mention radical christian terrorists that there were once were and probably still are today.

Their whole rant is just vile, innocent muslims/Islams get way too much hate and discrimination now because of a few religious fanatics who kill in the name of Allah. It's people like them who are making more and more Muslims think it's an us versus them thing, and that Bush declared war on Islam with his war on terror.

18. That's the truth!
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 12:32 PM by Maat
We've been friends with a Muslim couple for over twenty years; up until lately, since they were fairly conservative, they always voted Republican. Now, however, they are reconsidering. I throw the "us versus them" onto the far right, which has taken over the Rethuglican party, and I ask them, "When are you going to stand up for yourselves, and to the bigotry?" They are seeing the light, and coming over to our side.

Of course, your point is that the ranks of the extremists are growing, both the "Muslim" extremists, and the "Christian" extremists. That's true. And, it worries me. The extremists do not represent their groups overall, even though they say that they do. I always urge everyone I know to stand up for the basic dignity of every human being, and their right to be treated with a certain level of respect.
