So this is supposed to make me want to be 'above the influence' of, what again? Talking dogs?

So this is the war on drugs best shot?

'Above the influence' of what per se? Anyone know?

Icicles?

Talking dogs?

Okay now to piss off about 50 people... :eyes:

1. Are you talking about...
...those really weird hand drawn commercials, like the one where the guy is smoking pot and talking to his dog?

Cause those things are kinda funny. Incredibly stupid, but funny. And they aren't really making me feel any more 'above the influence' or whatever.

6. Ya those.
I'm wondering just how bad it has to get before they give up? Just remember to stay 'above the influence', unless it has to do with the color coded terrorist alert system - then follow orders and don't fuck up the ductape when the time comes!

2. The shame tactic.

It used to be about what you did to yourself, your brain.

Now, it's how do you affect your friends and your dog.

As long as the official policy is to only go after the drug user, rather than the drug supplier (not the reseller, mind you), we're going to have to deal with this crap.

4. My friends and I just about died laughing when that was shown in the theater.
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 11:21 PM by Marr
They showed it before the movie- one of those pre-trailer commercials everyone hates so much. My buddy shouted, "I can't get my dog to talk with anything less than acid" or something like that. People were laughing at that stupid ad. It's silly fearmongering.

5. I always felt pretty dumb when I was smoking pot.
I'm not sure those ads will change minds, but it seems a fair depiction to me.

High usually equates to acts like a stupid fool.

But I digress.

Occasionally, I remember why I don't have a TV. I'm still not missing much, am I?

16. I cannot, for the life of me, comprehend the hard-on that BushCo has against marijuana . . .
you'd think they'd put their anti-drug money into fighting stuff like crack and the really dangerous stuff . . . yet it seems that all of their advertising is aimed at a relatively harmless weed that's essentially a mild euphoric . . . talk about screwed up priorities . . . then again, it IS BushCo . . .

19. Here's a guess from a tinfoiler...
pot=cannabis=hemp=biofuel=potential competition for oil against shrub's best buds and his own financial gain.

More and more farmers are pushing for laws to grow hemp; it has the potential to be a helluva a cash crop and it can be used to create biofuel rather than using corn which is part of our food crops. It's also pest resistant (fewer chemicals needed to grow it), is better for the soil and, I believe though I'd have to check, requires less water than corn (used in ethanol). It also grows almost anywhere as evidenced by the left-over "ditch weed" in many parts of the country.

The timing of this increased attack against pot is interesting to me; therefore, I wear my :tinfoilhat:.

:hi:
