McCain And Cheney Use O’Hanlon-Pollack Op-Ed To Justify Continuing Escalation

In his interview with Larry King, Vice President Cheney said “don’t take it from me” that the escalation is working, but rather he cited O’Hanlon and Pollack, individuals whom he called “strong critics of the war”:

Look at the piece that appeared yesterday in The New York Times — not exactly a friendly publication — but a piece by Mr. O’Hanlon and Mr. Pollack on the situation in Iraq. They’re just back from visiting over there. They both have been strong critics of the war, both worked in the prior administration; but now saying that they think there’s a possibility, indeed, that we could be successful.

The enthusiastic parroting of the Times’ op-ed by pro-war dead-enders such as McCain and Cheney is a quintessential example of how left-of-center experts like O’Hanlon and Pollack provide political cover for the president’s failing Iraq policy. The supposedly reasonable assessments of these two analysts have been enabling the right-wing since before the invasion of Iraq.



DickfuckinCheney cites a NYT times article as a validation of his "policy". Where the F*&K have I heard that before? :mad:

2. Why Do I Always Get Suspicious When Cheney Appears On A Talk/News Show........

He's the VP. He doesn't need to do these shows. So when he gets paraded out we all know it is for a purpose. He's out there to run interference for *. He's out there to put out the talking points we all know will be picked up by every news outlet - because it's big news when the VP does an interview. He's out there to deflect some of the ill will toward *CO. He stuck up for Gonzo (though rather half heartedly). Then he admitted he was wrong when he said the war was in its "last throes". But he went right on saying now that Petreaus has a winning strategy and we're getting the upper hand. But why should we believe him now - he wasn't right before - what makes us want to believe him now. Then he references the NYT piece. Why am I suspicious that somehow *CO was behind the piece - like helped it get placed - so that he can reference it in a good way in this interview? Is it because they pulled this crap before? Yup!

So again - I listened to this interview - but don't believe a word that comes out of this guys 'piehole'.
