I want "Hurricane Insurance". (Local politics)
Our local state senator was tapped by the governor for another post.
So...we're having a special election to replace him.

One candidate is telling us "I'll reduce your property taxes and the cost of your hurricane insurance."

There ain't NO sucha thang as 'Hurricane Insurance'.
If there was, I'd sure buy some.
We got homeowner's, and flood.

And neither one covered the removal of the 19 oak trees blown down during Ivan. Or the hauling out of the massive rootballs torn up. Or the dock that had all the decking ripped up.

So if I could buy some no-shit, cover everything, all-purpose freaking HURRICANE INSURANCE, just show me where to sign up.

I ain't voting for THIS guy.
duh

1. Check out the legislation MS Congressman Gene Taylor
is trying to get through the house. It is "All Peril" - much like the flood insurance pool.

Write your legislators and ask them to support it.

:hi:

2. Nice when they weed themselves out for you, isn't it?
We can get earthquake insurance but the best policy doesn't pay a dime until damages exceed 10% of the value of your house and it's expensive -- for my house it costs the same as the homeowners. People closer to major faultlines pay two or three times as much.

3. They are positively SCREWING people on Cape Cod, due to ERRONEOUS insurance
adjustments based on weather data that they KNOW is false. Basically, it's a 'hurricane premium' even though they don't get hurricane insurance!

Some people have seen their premiums DOUBLE.

If they call their insurance companies and bitch, they'll ratchet the costs back a bit, but there's gonna be a court fight over it. It's ugly, folks are up in arms...!

4. Insurance costs down here on the gulf coast have doubled and tripled.
And some folks can get NO coverage.

5. On the Cape, they're sticking it to people, not just on the coast, but
well inland, in sheltered areas, in homes 50 to 100 years old that are built like bulwarks and that haven't had a single hurricane related claim ever, since their initial construction. That's what is pissing people off!!!
