Or both? Or are there more disasters yet to be realized?

1. the death of the constitution, the bankrupting (looting) of America,
the institutionalization of torture (tho I suppose we've done it for a long, long time)

3. A damning accusation, but true.
That's what galls me and disappoints me the most, that they did it all right under our distracted, apathetic eyes.

4. And they're still doing it...
I responded to your post becaude I wanted to post that but I am now even so disillusioned and disappointed that I am not even motivated to post here anymore. What is the point? All we do is talk while they continue to destroy our country. Elected leaders don't care. Congress doesn't care, and the peopel, well, they are too busy to care. I never thought I would see this country at this juncture in my lifetime, and now with talk of a draft to continue this insanity I know we have sunk as low as we can. There are simply days when I cannot deal with all of this. My heart is truly breaking.

7. Why stop at one or two?
How about this. Bush** will be associated with disaster in general. Nothing he has done has not turned out to be a disaster.

8. Want to know what his worst legacy COULD be?
The lowering of the United States Credit Rating.

Without a doubt, the war in Iraq has a special place in history for being the invasion of and occupation of a Muslim Land by the USA and it's subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands.

But if the creditworthiness or reliability of the United States Treasury Bond ever begins to be questioned by the worldwide investing community, we are well and truly screwed.

Treasuries are seen as one of the if not the safest securities in the world because of the stable political system we have in this country. It is a fact that the financial markets are (in spite of the opinion of some on DU) well regulated, deep, transparent and extremely liquid. Treasuries also have the added advantage of being backed by one of the most industrious and productive populations on the planet. Americans consistently and without too much grumbling, get up every morning, go to work and willingly pay taxes on their wages. And we do so while having regular, peaceful and orderly (for the most part) changes in the governmental power structure. In other words, we do what we all do and have been doing for over 100 years and we don't regularly burn down the Capitol building in the process.

If Bush is successful in changing the perception that a Treasury bond will never default no matter what, the entire world will be fucked.
