"George-I've been standing here for the last 45 minutes praying to God you were going to call on me"
"George, I've been standing here for the last 45 minutes praying to God you were going to call on me."

4. He usually has the best lines.
He thinks well on his feet. The digging to China line in the last debate was great, too.

28. The digging to China line was his best.
He also had another one, something about dollars spent in Baghdad are borrowed from Beijing. Something like that, I liked the alliteration.

5. That's fantastic!
I'm going to send him some more money. DK is the only candidate who is getting money from me this election. I will canvas my precinct & volunteer at my local dem office for all dem candidates, but I have way less income than I did in '04 & my contributions are going to DK only.

15. Yes, WTF indeed!!!
Of all the probably thousands of questions submitted and they ask this bullshit question about prayer and religion??? WHO GIVES A SHIT??? NOT ME! I was waiting for Dennis to say something like "it's irrelevant how often and for what I pray", but his answer was PERFECT!!! He got in the separation of church and state thing, quoted scripture, then pointed out that prayer doesn't make you "more religious" - ACTIONS are what matter. Dennis is awesome - even when being treated so poorly.

32. He pulled me his way. As a person of faith, I was really disappointed by many of the answers.
Especially Edwards and Biden. I know this community, and I can tell you that saying prayer doesn't have the power to do certain things was the wrong answer. The right answer is that there's a bigger picture where God decides what happens so its not a believers place to question what prayer can and can't do, but prayer doesn't hurt anything, and that we should "move our feet" while we pray, as the end of Al Gore's movie says.

Only Hillary and Kucinich seemed totally calm and confident with their beliefs. Gravel looked honest too but didn't profess spiritual ideas.

23. Stephanopoulos is a hitman for the GOP. Dennis made him look a fool
When George tried to smear him on his Sunday talk show. George was visibly angry each time Dennis put him down so George tried to make sure Kucinich didn't get to talk at all in the Iowa debate. Moderates by ambush and each question had an agenda for a GOP talking point. George kept trying to start fights between the candidates but he was successful keeping Kucinich from having any talk time while he let Obama and Clinton ramble on and on. Totally unfair but still Dennis is the Best candidate by far.

Kucinich/Edwards '08, yeah, that's the ticket.

31. Exactly
It was the perfect answer to a question that I don't think has a place in a political campaign - maybe a republican campaign though. As I was watching, I wondered how I would answer it without lying, then Dennis nailed it.

43. While DK was of course the wittiest, I liked Gravel's the best - love and courage.
Edited on Tue Aug-21-07 08:32 AM by The Count
he pretty much said he is an atheist and I respect that the most (although now the operatives on DU will vilify him even more - if that's possible).
I think I get now why his numbers were so low in that debate poll - everyone knows atheists are in league with Satan! he remains my favorite candidate!

I have tried to "get" what Obama and Hillary and the others have to say and offer but none of them seem genuine to me. Dennis does so he gets my vote in the primaries.

11. The Corporate Media does everything it can to marginalize Kucinich. It's blatant.
He manages to make his points nonetheless ... without sounding enough like a bomb-thrower (e.g. Gravel) for them to ridicule him. (Notwithstanding his rendition of "16 Tons.")

Kucinich has been the ONLY candidate that's been absolutely consistent and sane in oppostion to the predations of the Cheney/Bush regime for the last six years. Not Hillary. Not Obama. Not even Edwards.

I like Edwards. I sorta like Obama - but can't get past his 'triangulation'. But Kucinich, even in changing his 'social' positions on some visceral issues, has been consistent in the foundational sense.

37. More soundbites like this, less of the "poetry" and the media will love him
There is no MSM conspiracy against the "other" candidates. The MSM will provide anything they think their audience wants to hear.
Look at the attention Sharpton was getting 4 years ago just because he produced the best one-liners.

16. Dennis is just the best!
He stood head and shoulders over the others in the AFL-CIO debate, isn't afraid to speak out or take a stand, yet he was never even mentioned in the post-debate analysis. All they did was argue whether Barak Obama or Hillary Clinton "won." Sen. Clinton was pretty good, IMO, but, as far as I could tell, Obama said very little, was the weakest candidate up there that night.:grr:

And why do they keep bringing up religion, anyway?! They had a special on CNN that I turned off, Edwards, Obama and Clinton talking about the importance of religion in their lives. Don't you think we'd want to avoid somebody who is extremely religious this time around, after dealing with a nut case who said that God told him to invade Iraq?

30. Steph makes Tweety look like a good debate moderator
I remember a few weeks ago he shunned Tancredo and Tancredo finally had to speak up. As much as Tancredo is a turd, he did show up and should have been involved. Baby face George only cares about the pundit determined frontrunners. As best as I can tell, Olbermann has done the best so far at giving equal time. Kucinich is getting my vote in the primary. Obama is my "mainstream" candidate, and I hope I have a chance to vote 4 him in the general but I won't waste my vote in the primary on someone I don't believe in.

42. I totally disagree. If someone believes there is an all
powerful being that will grant their whispered or even shouted wishes like some interstellar genie I would like to know about it.
If someone is going to take us to a "religious" war, I want to know about it.
If someone is gullible enough to have "faith", to accept extraordinary claims without any, let alone, extraordinary proof, I want to know about it.

Every question should be allowed, even the "Have you stopped beating your wife?" type question. I want to see how these people react, I want to be sure they can THINK!
Look what softball questions and capitulation by the press has gotten us for the last six years (that and two rigged "elections").
